Hey there!

Good luck with your journey! I hear the doctors that do the surgery in Chico are good though I didn't meet any of them. I didn't go through all that as my BMI wasn't high enough for insurance to cover it. However, I did get it done in Mexico. I am on week three now so things are good as far as I can tell :banghead: My fill doctor is based in SF but I understand has a satellite office here in Chico. I do have a myspace. You can read my blog to see what all I did so far. If you have any questions please don't hesitate. There are a LOT of people on here who have a great deal of knowledge. I love this site!

:(

Keep in touch!

I had my band placed in May by Chico CA. doctors. I had my last fill two weeks ago. This fill helped me turn the corner. I'M FINALLY LOSING WEIGHT!! I was beginning to dispair :) but now I'm feeling hopeful:thumbup:. I'm happy to see there is a thread started for Chico patients. Are you going to the meetings?

I was banded in May and its taken me 4 fills to really start losing weight. The doctor said I had to be patient, that it would happen and he was right! I'm feeling strong and in control right now. Losing weight steadily. I have to laugh at myself. I had really been counting on a 2 lb a week loss. Even writing it on the calendar. (I need a new calendar). I have started losing at least 2 lbs a week but only recently. Anyway, good luck to everyone.

I have been feeling a little discouraged lately too. I was banded in May and have lost about 28-30 lbs (it varies each day) I am kind of stuck and probably need a fill. I have had 3 fills. The first was 1.5cc, the second was 0.5cc and the last one was 0.3cc. I still have some productive burping when I eat too fast or eat bread. I have started exercising a little more but probably need to do much more. I guess I thought if I was eating less I would lose more weight. I seem to be drinking more alcohol lately and I know that isn't a good thing calorie wise. I have wine in the evening for back pain. I used to take lots of Ibuprofen for the pain and now I can only have Tylenol which doesn't do anything for the pain. I swam for an hour today and then soaked in the hot tub which felt good and then I walked my dog in the park for an hour. Now my back is killing me and I am having a glass of wine. Has anyone else had pain control problems since having surgery? I sure hope my weight loss improves soon because I am starting to think that this is all I am going to lose. Thanks for listening.

Have you Chico people been going to the support groups on Weds? I have not been able to make the group meetings because of work but I am hoping to start going. I heard that there were mostly gastric bypass people there and it would be nice if a bunch of us banders got together for support. Becky

I wasn't banded here so I didn't know that we did meetings here in Chico. When and where are they?

I agree if we had a few bandsters it would be better for us.

I fell like I am the only one in a hundred miles like me up here

Hope we can all get together!

May for me too. the 5th to be exact. Ludwig was my surgeon.

Hey Sandy, my band date was May 12th. It is nice to meet another bander from Chico. Are you going to the meetings and if so have they helped? I am kind of stuck and need some motivation, especially with all the holidays coming up. Any tips on getting good Protein and staying within the calorie limit of 900-1000 a day? My hair is reallly falling out but I get sick of the Protein Drinks. I have been taking Biotin to help stop the Hair loss. Becky

The Chico meetings are the last Wed of each month from 6:00 to 8:00 at the Esplanade Building ( I think I have that right, I haven't been to one yet and need to) I would feel better knowing that there are other banders there. I would like to hear from any of you that are attending. thanks, Becky

Yes, you are correct. I thought that we may have met. I am such a show off with my surgery scars. You gave me your on line name and I put it in my pocket and it went right into the laundry:unsure: How are you doing? I just got back from a little trip to Portland and I was not very good with my eating. I didn't plan well and ended up doing impulse eating. I really need some support right now on getting back on track. I have an appt with Dr Ludwig next week and I know I will have not had any wt loss:angry_smile: It is my own fault because I have not been exercising the way I should be. Oh well, today is a new day and a new start. I am off to work soon. I am glad that we connected. Best wishes, Becky

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
