Well in the case of my parents and my inlaws, they have medicare, a gov't. issued healthcare for those 65+ I think it is, as well as those individuals deemed handicapped beyond being able to work. But it pays so poorly that they all have a secondary insurance. My inlaws buy their independently, my parents is a continuance of their retirement, they are allowed to keep their insurance at their cost of course. Both pay in the neighborhood of $500.00 a month for the additional coverage. Takes a bite out of their Social Security and their retirement that is for sure.

There has to be a better way, but finding it, and implementing it have eluded those in charge thus far........

My hair is horrid!!! Top is flat, bottom is frizzy---I have had several stylists and none that has done anything I could do on a daily basis that is any better than what I do now!!!

Why do clothing manufacturers believe that if you are 'round' (that is, fat), you also have gorilla-like arms dragging on the ground, and the legs of a basketball player? Just because I'm fat does not mean that my body parts are disproportionately long!!!:angry_smile:

Why must my son share his lunch with the one kid that has rotten food? After cleaning up puke and sh&t all day yesterday and only sleeping about 2 hours I am just ready to tear my hair out. Maybe it is just a coincidence, but all signs point to food poisoning.

Ewww yuck, that would be the one time you wouldn't want your kid to be a good kid and share. I hope your son is feeling better now and that your hair is still intact!

I cannot stand people who just will not shut the eff up. Like if I am looking down and typing on my kepyboard while you are telling me about your cat's IV and trip to ICU it must mean I don't care. Esecially when everyone around here knows you are a pathological liar and you proably do not even have a cat.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
