I'm actually exercising

Recommended Posts

Just need to give myself a little boost here. I know you all will understand. First, let me say that I hate exercise. I will find ANY excuse, even scrubbing a toilet, to not exercies. See, I used to be a competitive powerlifter and my demon-coach made me work out 4-5 hours a day 6 days a week and since I gave that up, I can't stand it.

WELL, after my pre-op class, I was determined to try. I can hardly do anything because I get out of breath and my knees and feet hurt but I am doing it!! I did 10 minutes on the treadmill followed immediately by 10 minutes on the bike. And not only did I do it once, I have done it daily for 3 days now. I just feel so good and for those of you who have read my other threads about my husband, you will understand my need for validation that I am doing something good!!

thanks for listening!!:):thumbup::ohmy::thumbup::smile2:

Way to go! I have a semi-supportive hubby and realize how hard it can be to stay on track when they are not much help when you need it. You are on the right track, not much longer until you get your band.

I'm six months out today (Happy Bandiversary to me!) and I've just barely started exercising regularly in the last couple of weeks. I've finally started loving how it makes me feel. I no longer am hurting by the time I get home from walking 1.5 miles. I even picked up the pace and jogged a little yesterday. It was exhilarating.

Good for you for getting things rolling, but know that as the weight comes off, it will be easier to do that exercise. Good going!

I was banded on July 10 and just started exercising this week. My doctor recommended Water aerobics and I found out our local natorium has several classes offered throughout the day. I've been twice this week and love it! I hate any type of exercise too but am finding this so much fun....and it's in-doors, out of the HOT Texas sun! I am also walking on my treadmill on the days I don't swim, but I'd much rather do the swim class. We use Water weights and noodles and it's amazing the workout it gives my arms and back! That's the only thing that felt sore after the first class.

Just an idea for others who may hate, or have trouble with other types of exercise.

Congrats on your exercise. I have been banded for a week and had started walking for a hour. I then had toe surgery and am definitely down for the week. So- I am exercising through all of you. Thank you for making me proud.

Cindy

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
