You haven't pooped since your surgery. That is not good at all cause when you go you are going to have a very very hard time going. You don't want to strain yourself AT ALL. I would call your dr at leaste your family dr. After sugery (any surgery that is) you can get very very constipated. I did after I had a c-section. It was a very painfull experience. Your suppose to go to the bathroom before you leave the hospital after any surgery and they never asked me if I did. I didn't think anything of it until I had to go. Good luck

Thank God LBT.com I dont know what I would do without it. I have been having the same problem. The first few days in the hospital were great then I came home, drank some chicken broth and man did it go right threw. Then I thought ok maybe its the strength so I added a little Water, didn't help. When I started drinking my fruit juices, I was sure to add water to them too and it didn't help either. I was banded on 8/5 and I tried a creamy Soup yesterday only to have it worse. All evening long and the first thing this am when my feet hit the floor from waking up. I can't take much more of this. I'm at work now and can't eat.

I was bannded on Monday and I haven't had a bowel movement either. I guess it's because I really haven't been eating that much. Today is the first day I ate 3oz of applesause, the other days I've had a little of the Protein Shakes and a little chicken broth.< /p>

Each dr gives his own directions for eating. However, I don't think tht you should be drinking fruit juices. This is not recommended due to the large number of calories you consume from them. They could seriously hinder your weight loss. Watch out. Water, water, and more water. You may also want to try the Welche's, Crystal Light type powders that you can mix in your water on the go. Keep the faith. If you start telling yourself that you can't, you won't.

Contray to one of the previous reports, it's not always an issue that you don't have an immediate bm. It took me about a week. Part of the reason for this is that it sometimes takes a while for your bowles to start working. Another is that you have not likely eatten enough to cause you to have a bm. If you are concerned contact your Dr., s/he might tell you get a good stool softner.< /p>

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
