Master Cleanse Lemonade Diet

Recommended Posts

Has anyone heard of this and is it recommended for lap band patients? Has anyone done it? Let me know, if you dont know what it is look it up. My co worker is doing the diet, and has lost from it,. It is of course a liquid diet, so, not sure if we are allowed to do it or not.

You need to follow your surgeon's instructions.

But generally, no, a liquid diet does not work well with the band (post-healing phase.) The purpose of the band is to dim hunger when you eat small portions of solid food. Protein and produce. liquids won't fill the pouch or give you any feelings of satiety.

In my opinion, with a diet like the Master cleanse, you'll just be starving on yet another diet that only works as long as you stay on it.

The band is supposed to help us step away from all of that. If you're really interested in trying it, you should talk to your surgeon's office and see what they tell you.

Congratulations on your weight loss so far! Good luck to you.

I did the Master Cleanse Lemonade Diet. The book on this diet clearly says it is intended to *cleanse* the body...not to lose weight. The book also states that you may lose weight on the diet, but its artificial weight loss and gained back immediately after ending the 10-14 day cleanse program.

The above poster is correct about liquids and solid foods with the band. The band was designed to make you feel full after eating solid foods, especially Protein.

For me, the band was the end of fad diets and programs. You don't need the master cleanse.

I bought one of those things you see in the infomercial that is supposed to cleanse your body you take daily. I wound up not being able to go normally and had to go to a special doctor to get prescription Fiber, something that I took daily until my body was able to go without help from laxatives. Learned my lesson. There was one ingrediant in the bottle that the doctor said was not safe to take daily, despite what it said on the label.

I was wondering if we could take it not to lose the weight, but to cleanse. Detoxify. But, she has to drink this stuff for 10 days, its like maple Syrup in the pure form cayianne pepper, or however you spell it, and some lemon thing that she bought at the herbal store. And she says that she takes a laxative 2 times a day. I dont think that I can honestly do that, the liquid diet pre op was the hardest, but at least I had some options on what I could eat, with this, its this or nothing. So, Im just looking for a good detoxifyer. If the weight loss occurs, then good. But, I need the Protein, and the daily Vitamins. Anyway, thanks guys for the response.

Hi Im actually in the middle of the master cleanse right now. I am pre surgery though. You not only drink the lemonade but you drink a laxative tea at night and do a saline flush in the morning. Im doing it to cleanse my liver before surgery. The liver and kidneys process toxins in the body and when its overloaded with chemicals and antibiotices from your food it stores it in your fat so as you lose fat you release the toxins back into your body. Im hoping to eliminate the toxins BEFORE losing the weight. so my body liver and kidneys can focus on getting the fat out haha. but mostly because its good for your skin and other organs in the body. Im not hungry but I crave foods...talk about the epitome of weight gain. Eating not because your hungry but siply because you WANT something. haha. Im learning alot about myself. As for after surgery my only concern might be dehydration during the flush. Otherwise I dont see why you COULDNT do it.Hope this helped.

This sounds like the advertisement of what they promise it will do. The doctor I went to was a specialist and said these cleanses are not good for you, they can cause more harm than good.

I would ask a doctor.... and not the "doctor" promoting the cleanse.

The whole purpose of banding is to eat healthy food which fills your banded pouch and eases hunger. My doctor said to stop the Protein Drinks in the morning because I was defeating the use of the band in that it wont prevent hunger if it goes right through. The only liquid diets I go on now are caused by fills or a rare pb. :0)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
