Do you reward yourself for weight loss milestones?

Several of the women on the board began the WLS by buying themselves a charm Bracelet, and for every so many pounds they add a charm.

Personally, I didn't do it by how much weight was lost, I would find something I really liked, and as soon as it fit, I would buy it!! I refused to buy it in the current size. A couple of times it was sold by the time I would have fit, but that happens!!! I would find another item.

Right now I have my eye on a new leather jacket!!! If it fits when I hit my goal, I will buy it----if not, then I keep working til it does or til it is gone!!!

My DH told me he was going to buy it for my B-day this weekend, I told him he was to do no such thing!!! LOL

When I get to where I am happy with my weight, whether that is my goal, or a few pounds less, I am taking a weekend getaway with my DH to Celebrate. Although we seem to be doing a lot of celebrating!!!

Ah, here's where I admit to my charm Bracelet habit.

I got a Pandora bracelet for my 40th last year. Are those as huge there as they are here?

Anyway, the plan was that people would buy me a bead for every special occasion, it would do for birthdays and Christmases for a few years to come.

Um, it was filled in 4 months *shamefaced*. I simply couldnt wait. Bugger waiting till I'd lost a pound, lol!

What I did was take my goal weight at one year post op then divided it to see what # I should be at each month in order to get to my first year's goal. I am going to weigh myself each month and if I hit the goal, I get a "prize". The first few are small like $25 of work out clothes, new make up, etc. The bigger ones are like laser hair removal and lasik eye surgery is the final reward. I tried to make sure they are all supporting my weight loss or something specifically for ME!

I decided at the beginning of this journey that when (not if) I reach goal, I would buy a tanning bed to put in my workout room. I am not a tanning junky but I do love having somewhat of a tan and I find it very relaxing. I cannot lay out in the sun (I get a rash).

I have bought a few clothes. I do not use them as a current reward but as a future reward. It's just another kick in the butt to keep going and fit into them. The clothes I bought are for winter and a size smaller than I wear now. All four tops that I bought were more expensive than I would usually spend but it keeps me going thinking about fitting into them.

Also, my husband said he would pay for a Tummy Tuck if I needed one at when I get to goal. Sure hope I don't but will wait a year and then decide. I love that guy!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
