Do you reward yourself for weight loss milestones?

Recommended Posts

I'm coming up on the "50 pounds lost" milestone and I am getting excited. I decided I would get a massage when I lost 50 pounds. Now I want something really good when I lose 100 pounds, but I haven't decided what yet. I may have to throw in a small reward after the next 25 pounds too, since the pounds are coming off a bit slower than they did in the beginning. When I reach my goal (which is about 150 pounds lost), I think I want to take a cruise to Alaska. Now I just have to talk my husband into that.

What are your rewards?

Every time I drop 10 pounds, I get $200 for new clothes... Weight loss is SLOW now, so I am missing my moolah!!

When I lost the 1st 25 I treated myself for a really good pair of sneakers. When I reach 50 I am going to buy myslef and IPOD. I think it is important to reward yourself. I just try to pick things that will support my weight loss. Or at least aid me in taking care of myself. (Like a facial or manicure). When I hit my goal of 125 I am going to go hang gliding! Good luck!

I vote yes on a self reward at 75 pounds lost!

I do reward myself but I usually don't figure out what the reward will be until I am pretty close to achieving the goal. Being divorced with a grown daughter, I don't have anyone else to spend my money on, so I tend to reward myself pretty well most of the time..... I used to do it with food, now I've found other ways (my every-other-week pedicures are a favorite little treat). But one thing I've definitely decided I'm going to do when I am at goal or near goal, is get a professional bra fitting! I've probably never worn the right size bra in my life and I am tired of trying to hoist the girls up to where they should be, usually without success. Once I get to goal there won't be as much to hoist but unfortunately, whatever is left is still going to need some good support! LOL.

i'm so glad i'm not the only one who wants to reward myself for losing weight! i plan on doing "something" when i'm no longer considered obese.... which should be a few more pounds. i plan on rewarding myself at other goals as well. i have an august weightloss i'm trying to hit too.

i didn't do anything in the beginning because i know the weight comes off quickly in the beginning. i want to reward myself for the actual "having to work at it" pounds.

I also reward myself. I'm doing them for every 25 lbs lost. I bought earrings I wanted for the first 25lbs. Not sure what the next reward will be yet but its only 7 lbs away.

Yes, I love rewards! The first 50 I purchased new clothes. I really did need them because I guess I wore my clothing too big to start with so it was all terribly baggy. When I get to 78 - which is a strange goal but it will be onederland, I plan to get a great facial at a skin center in town.

Only 7 pounds to go!!

I have been rewarding myself as I go. Travel, clothes, pedicures, etc. I feel great when I get to enjoy something new, especially on the heels of a feel-good weight loss.

My next big in-progress reward is the money I will spend on a trainer to help harden up this closer-to-beach body. I figure another 40lbs and the trainer is a go!

I started at 419 and when I got out of the 400s I went on a shopping spree. Got a few purses and some jewelry. Made me feel good.

When I get to October I am getting a ring. It's been a long wait for preop and surgery.

No, it feels kind of gratuitous to me, and I dont believe in holding off on things (like living your life!) till your weight is this or that exact amount.

I know it helps others but to me its no motivation at all, probably because I"m incredibly self indulgent and buy whatever I want, whenever I want it, lol.

Hahahaha, to be fair, I think I tacked on "weight loss reward" to make it easier to perpetuate the shopping habit. :wink2:

I live my life just fine and I reward myself with weight loss goals. Typically they are short-term rewards . . . like, if I exercise everyday this week, I'll splurge on a spa pedicure. I don't count clothes and (necessary) shoes as rewards, though, because I actually *need* those. Little luxuries here and there, though? Totally reward myself with those.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
