Seriously you need to call your doctor ASAP.

Until you get to see him I would just go on full liquids.

you do not want to keep throwing up you could damage your band.

Good luck and let us know how you are doing.

I fought with that for about 2 weeks--particularly because I was 10 weeks after a fill and couldn't believe that suddenly my band was too tight. I hoped it would go away after my TOM and that things would go back to the way they were. It didn't, and I was so hungry!

The reason I felt most compelled to respond to you, though, is because I didn't gain any weight after I was unfilled. My Physician's assistant took out just enough to maintain a good restriction, but enough that I could eat solid foods again. You should not be relying on your band to be the food police--that's where your responsibility comes in. You need to control your food intake and not rely on the band to do it for you. Eat in proper amounts and take in enough Protein. You will continue to lose weight if you do this properly. I strongly recommend you make an appointment to get your band adjusted.

Call your doc right away. I haven't had a fill in 8 weeks and then I started having some stomach cramping (probably a stomach bug) and all of the sudden my band was so tight Water felt like it was gettting stuck. I went in yesterday and he only did a small unfill, 1/4 cc. You can't imagine the relief. All of the sudden it felt like I could breath again even though I didn't realize I was feeling like that. In a couple of weeks when my stomach is completely back to normal I'll go back in and have the 1/4 cc put back in because this last fill was pretty close to where I need to be for a while. I was getting so frustrated because everything I tried to swallow caused pain. It's not worth it. Besides you can mess up your band. You don't want to have to have a surgical revision. Go in and have a small unfill. Loosing weight is great, but not if you are miserable.

Am I understanding correctly that you had a fill in May, and are just now in August having problems with vomitting? I would think if you are just having these problems after this long you definately should call the Dr. I had a fill 2 weeks ago, and ever since my fill, have had many times that I felt like my food gets stuck after just a few bites, then the sliming starts and I have to "throw up" to clear what is stuck out of my esophagus. Is it not different to "throw up"...food out of your stomach, or to "throw up", just clearing the food that hasn't made it to your stomach yet? I haven't called my doc yet, I just thought it's my first real restriction and I'm still needing to break old habits of eating too fast, not chewing enough, and taking too big of bites. Any thoughts?

I had an unfill after over 10 weeks. The first 8 weeks were great, but for whatever reason, I had issues after that. My surgeon said it's not all that unusual, but they don't know why it happens. I know my band is ok and working as I can now get more food down, but I still have decent restriction. He told me he has a patient who had an unfill after nearly 12 months of no problem eating. It is what it is..I'm just happy to not gain weight after having saline removed. That was my biggest worry....

My doctor said there are 3 types of tightness. Tightness to liquids, which is not good. Tightness to solids which is okay if you don't mind mushies and tightness to mushies which means you need a slight unfill. If you can live on a softer diet and lose its up to you to stay there. Personally speaking I like to consume 1-3 oz of solid Protein and a little vegies to get full with PB. Typically takes me 20-30 minutes to do so. I am an expert in this matter as I have had over 20 fills and unfills in just over 2 years. There is a very fine line between being filled too much and not enough so you need to work with the band and your surgeon to find the balance. PM me if you want to chat more. I help a lot of people with fickle bands.b

I'm having the same problem. Has yours resolved ? I'm wondering if I'm just trying to eat too much now? What do you think?

my doctor told me to do warm liquids for 4 days..that sounds ridiculous!! However..I have found that if I drink warm liquids prior to eating it helps..but I am still vomiting..from my esophagus to clear the food that is stuck..what to do???

I just posted about that very thing and my advice is to get a small unfill IMMEDIATELY! Whatever your doc put in at your last fill, get half of that taken out. For example, my last fill was 0.5ml which took me from really needing the fill to way too tight - 0.25ml taken out and I am one happy camper!

My doc says that struggling to live with a too tight fill and PBing/sliming regularly is the fastest way to a slip - don't do it! If you find that you get hungry easily again after the unfill - eat more lean meat and veges! You won't get fat on lean meat & veges but you will gain on icecream and cheesecake when that's all you can keep down.

Ok, so from what I'm reading it sounds like I need a slight unfill. I just got a fill yesterday, and today - I can keep liquids down! Last night I was fine. I'm wondering - is it just that its tighter in the morning, or is it I need half taken out?

Ok you can or can not keep liquids down.

And yes a lot of people are tighter in the morning.

In the mornings if you find you are very tight try drinking warm Water, hot coffee or tea to lossen you up a bit.

I get severe sweeling from fills so I have to do more then 2 days of liquids before I am able to eat. But everyone is different. Just listen to your body.

I personally would give it until tomorrow only if you can get liquids down.

But if you find that you can not tolerate liquids call and get some of your fill out. even .2 cc's can make a world of difference.

Let me know how you do.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
