Anyone banded from king county?

Recommended Posts

fleminld,

hope your feeling stronger, I think every day gets easier, enjoy the desire to not eat in the post op period, I did and it lasted for almost a month, it was great actually, a couple of popsicles and a latte at work for 12 hour nights and I was good. I too am a nightshifter, 7p to 7a, NICU nurse in Seattle. Don't lose site of the goal you have, for me more than just being a 6 or an 8, it's that I'm going to have pin up pics done, like the 1940's style since I'm obsessed with them, maybe seeing myself like that I will be able to leave the fat chick in me behind. Almost there.

Hi,

Just wondering being a CNA at a pediatrics hospital how long did it take before you went back to work and how did you feel?

Hey CindySue - This is probably the hardest part of your band journey - the waiting for it to start! :) Once you actually have the surgery it's a steady journey (well, with a few stops and starts!) of recovery, then eating new foods, then figuring out what food you can eat, then finding exercises you can stick with ...

Try to be patient - I was the worst before surgery - and read lots on LBT to figure out what will happen and how to help yourself.

Good luck!

Hey cindy sue, how are you doing? Getting excited? Have all the stuff you need around the house and ready?

April: I went back to work after 4 weeks. I probably cold have gone back after 3 weeks if i wanted to , but figured i needed that extra week to make sure i was rested.

for 1 week of liquids, Protein Shakes and cream soups(just strain out the mushrooms or onions that are in it), Jello, pudding. the week of mushies i ate, oatmeal made w/milk for more Protein, tuna w/lite mircle whip, cottage cheese if you like it(but i found it didnt keep my hunger controled).refired Beans w/melted cheese(this kept me the most satisfied). defently have some sugar free popsicles, you will go thrue a couple a day. they help the throute irritation.

I still dont have any restriction or at least very little. I am axiously waiting for my next fill on the 2nd. I have been watching what i have been eating and still only eating around 800-1000 calories a day, but my body is refuse'g to drop the weight. Have been sick w/cold since last week, need to get back out and start walking again.

hello! My name is Robin - I live in Kenmore - looking for a lapband buddy too. I was banded on the 4th of Sept. Still on the liquid part - trying to figure out what I can have. Today I started to get some hunger pains. I also have a cold or the flu which doesn't help. Anyone out there in the North End?

Thanks,

Robin:smile:

How is everyone doing? It has been quiet in here. I survived my first 2 weeks back at work, only had 1, 6 day work week and , 4 12hr work days in that period. It has been hard trying to figure out when to eat at work, especially when i am working a 12hr day. I am still getting hungry every 3 hrs or so and am eating a couple hundred more calories a day than i am susposed to. Cant wait until my next fill. just 2 more weeks to go.

Hi Fleminld hang in there looks like you are doing great to me. What type of work do you do? Are you on your feet all day or can you sit? I have to stand all day so I am a little concerned about going back to work at first but I have a month off if I want it so we will see. Anyway good luck til your next fill you are doing awesome. I have a sit down job. I am a police dispatcher. Take off the month, the last thing u wanna do is go back to soon. you wont feel back to yourself until the middle of the 3rd week. Even then will still have some tenderness where the port it. I still have some now.

Hello everyone! today marks 2 weeks from surgery. Finally getting my sea legs not quite so shaky. Finally got to eat some scramble eggs - felt good to have something besides liquids!

I had a bloodie nose for about 4 days after surgery and now it has turned into a sinus infection which is no fun - but I am going to go back to work on Monday - at least that is the plan.

If any of you are still on liquids - split pea Soup is a good choice - use milk instead of Water for added Protein - blend it up - it is high in protein and sure taste good and goes down easy. It also seems to hold me longer than other Soups. I've also added some grated cheese for additional protein - which melts when you heat it up.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Robin:smile:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
