MistyD65 1 Posted August 6, 2008 Had my surgery Monday morning. Everything went very smoothly, spent the night in the hospital since I was to have an upper GI the next morning. Since Edouard decided to drench us with lots of rain Tuesday morning, I was really glad I stayed over rather than trying to get back to the hospital in that. I've had no trouble at all with full liquids - no nausea, thank goodness. The operative gas seems to have mostly dissappeared after spending most of yesterday up in my left shoulder. But the rumblings and gurglings in my tummy and intestines at times makes me laugh...the GasX strips do help though, as does walking. The pain at the incision sites is really more of an ache - nothing terrible. Still, I'll be glad when that fades away too. I'm so excited to start my journey and join the ranks of the successful, shrinking Bandsters!

Claudine1975 0 Posted August 6, 2008 I had surgery last Friday and yesterday was the first day I didn't need a Gas X strip. I have been taking walks in the morning and that seems to help. I had the gas mainly near my collarbone area, more on my right then on my left. But I have no pains today. Only a slight discomfort and I can't pick anything up from the floor. Good Luck to all the new bandsters.
MistyD65 1 Posted August 7, 2008 I read a suggestion in another post regarding the gas pain...a surgeon had recommended getting down on elbows and knees and lowering your head to the floor, rear-end high, head low (well that was the gist of it, anyway). I tried it and it helped. Of course, it all depends on if you can get down there and then back up. :w00t:

premiern01 0 Posted August 7, 2008 Hi Everyone. Banding on Monday went really well. "Smooth as silk" as the surgeon says. (He's not the one with the gas pain) LOL...I'm really feeling pretty good besides some major soreness on my right side.

liquidbluegal 0 Posted August 7, 2008 Congrats on being banded! I am getting banded on Monday and doing a final shopping trip this weekend. Any recommended items I should pick up???
keisha85 1 Posted August 7, 2008 hi all liquidbluegal, there is a list on the august 08 thread on pre op uestions of what is good to have. i now understand the grabber-picking up things from the floor!!!! or the tv remote that fell right behind my bed last night!! one thing i would get is dissolveable painkillers (not aspirin as this irritates the stomach lining) as i was not sent home with any, and therefore if you are in that position then atleast you will have some ready at home. if you are allowed Soup, then more tins then you think you will need, i am having about 1 a day, as they are 400g and i have 2 meals of 200g, not that i am managing all of that. however, i thought i would get more at the weekend, but i dont think i am up to carrying tins of soup yet. is anyone desparate to get their dressings off? mine are itching like mad and the outsides (the sticky bits) are pulling my skin. this is the only discomfort i am in, unless i eat my soup too quickly, and then i want a drink, but have to wait half an hour. the other side of the op, is such a good place to be!!!!! im so pleased ive had this done sarah
