I'm really getting scared

Recommended Posts

Last night I couldn't sleep. All I was dreaming about is all the things that could go wrong...

Going into surgery and not getting banded. Not leaving for the hospital on time. Forgetting that I'm not supposed to eat anything the day of surgery and having some toast and coffee.

I'm trying so hard to stay calm. My furious.gif hubby thought my surgery was on Thursday. I was freaking out all day yesterday because I was hungry all day! I just couldn't seem to get enough foods. I was trying my best to stick to good stuff. Today I have to have NOTHING BUT liquids. Will I survive? Well that's not an option because if I want surgery tomorrow I have to. This day is going to go long.

Ok so to wrap up my whine/rant I just want to say that I'M FREAKING OUT HERE! angst.gifhelp.gif Any advice you can give me to help me through the day is greatly appreciated.

Take a deep breath and relax, best advise i can give. i know easier said then done. i felt the same way. i had to go to Mexico and i just kept thinking i was going to go all the way there and they would find some reason why they couldn't do the surgery and i would have spent all that money on the flight and everything else. find something to do today to take your mind off of it, and don't worry it will be fine and over with before you know it. see you on the other side of the bandster world! :cool2:

Just a little trick that might help. Use your mind to take yourself beyond the surgery. envision this; now you have had the surgery, you have had a couple of fills, you are starting to get restriction and you have really started to loose some weight. Your clothes are getting loose, you don't feel hungry and when you do eat a little bit makes you completely satisfied. At first your friends (that don't know about the surgery) say "did you get a new hairstyle" or "is that a new outfit" or "you look great today". As time goes by they say "have you lost weight?" You move with an ease you only remember from years ago. Hold this picture in your mind and in your thoughts and everything will go smoothly. Don't focus on what you don't want, hold the "feeling" of what you do want and it will be here before you know it.

Good luck even though you don't need it!

Sally

Yes, you need to breathe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are a whole lot of people who have gone before you, and there will be a whole lot of people who go after you. Realize that this will be the day that you will look back at with the utt most delight!!!!! It is a very very normal to feel weird, out of place, sad, anxious, angry, happy, and a wide variety of other emotions during this time. We all go through it, and it will go away. You have been thinking about this for a long time, why not do something today to take your mind off of it. Go do something for yourself that you love to do(not eat)!!!! Spend some time with yourself and reflect on the person you are going to become!!! Its a great journey that will make you a better, stronger and healthier person!!! Good luck to you!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
