funky infection after fill

Recommended Posts

I had my first fill on July 17th. The next day, right where the needle had gone, I had this blood blister looking thing. Wiithin 5 days it was about the size of a dime and had a red rim around it and was filled with pus. What the crap??? I have been on antibiotics and cannot get rid of it. By the next time I need a fill, it will look like a big ol' bullseye! Has anyone had this issue? I have checked with a few of my friends that have been banded and no one has any idea why this happened.

You need to call the surgeon's office tomorrow AM and have them look at it. I'm surprised you haven't done that yet. The office that did the fill needs to see it, not your PCP (I'm figuring that's who gave you the Rx). Don't let this go too long. Best wishes and hope it clears up soon!

I agree about calling the fill office. This is not normal and should be looked at immediately. If an infection reaches your port and extends to your band, you are in risk.

Yikes get thee to a doctor or emergency room asap. Any skin infection now can be dangerous. I had a simple bite from a yellow jacket a few years ago, and in 3 days I ended up in the hospital with a major skin infection, cellulitis and had to go on intravenous antibiotics for a week. It was awful, they drew a big purple circle around it and sent me home saying if the redness an swelling goes over the line to come right back in. I went back every afternoon for a week for the intravenous antibiotics. It slowly went away. But scared the crap out of me.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
