Lapband over previous weight loss surgery

Recommended Posts

Hi

I'm looking for someone who has had previous weight loss surgery and is now banded or going to be banded. Back in about 1985 I had the stapeling that was available then. I lost 82lbs and then the stapeling opened up and that was that. I gained the weight I had lost and more. I'm am scheduled for banding in Mexico with Dr. Ortiz in October. I am trying to get my BMI down because of the previous surgery and increased risks. I haven't talked with anyone who has had surgery before and how they are doing. I spoke with Dr. Ortiz who assures me he often has more success with previous surgery patients due to motivation and previous understanding of what to expect. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

Christine

He came back and said I was a good candidate. My stomach was still 3 oz. The opening had streched. so on june 28,10 I got banded. It went well lost 13 lbs first week!!! but now cant loose anything, I have to wait for first fill, hopefully I will start loosing again. Would like to be buddies.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
