Hi,

I wanted to say hello and congradulations to everyone who decided to do that life changing lap band surgery. The lap band has literally "SAVED" my life as well as given me one.

I wanted to share that I was banded by Dr.Hadar Spivak in Houston.I went to his support group or wellness program 2 months ago and found it to be very informative and very welcoming. Everyone who attended the night I was there was so eager to help answer my questions and concerns since I am still new with having my band. I truly felt welcomed, like I was walking into a "friends" home. Wanda the director of the program was so wonderful and "sincere and real" this is so important to me and I really appreciate her for this. She actually stayed later than usual to make sure I was ok and all my questions were answered. She said she had lost a 165 poundson the LAP BAND!! when she showed me her before picture OMG!! I was astounded. She is so beautiful and such a great inspiration to help me and everyone else stay, get and keep on track.

What I liked most about the meeting that night, is she had everyone share a little bit about themself. Then she asked if there were any concerns that anyone needed help with, well of course I raise my hand. She let everyone who wanted to share their thougts on my questions do so and everyone listened to each other, It was just a great meeting. I learned so much that night and I wish I lived closer to attend more often. I am so glad I chose Dr.Spivak for my surgery and I am so glad he has such a "Sincere,Real" lady taking care of his support group patients.

I am planning on going to the August 5th meeting to listen to Marilyn Logan. I had seen her on Dr.Phil show one day, she is great. They also call her the "Money Lady" . I got an email about this night from Wanda and I laughed because of the "Fund Jars" we all have, she listed, the "new clothes" fund jar,the "plastic surgery" fund jar. She will be there August 5th from7-8pm at Dr.Spivaks office www.bandmd.com

I appreciate you all listening and I hope to see you all August 5th.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
