Claudine1975 0 Posted August 9, 2008 You gals might want to try the Protein "bullets". It is a product by New Whey and it like a Jello shot in a tube. There is the 25 or 42 grames of protein in each and they come in fruit punch, grape and some other tolerable flavors. I mix mine with a crystal light and some Water and it a a great way to get my protein and water intake in. I do recommend that you half the 42 gram one since most experts agree that you can only absorb about 20-25 grams at a time. Good luck!
lellow 1,713 Posted August 9, 2008 I'm 9 days out of surgery now and burping isn't much of a problem anymore. It's not as easy as pre-surgery, but I can burp now. So it doesn't last forever!
amaltha 2 Posted August 9, 2008 Hmm never heard of the "bullets" I will check them out.
ShelbyD 0 Posted August 10, 2008 I love the whey Protein bullets! I don't think I could have ever gotten all my protein in without them.
lindar172 1 Posted August 10, 2008 where do you get the Protein bullets? How much do they cost?
ShelbyD 0 Posted August 10, 2008 I bought mine at GNC they sell them individually as well as by the case. Not sure how much they cost, I bought several things that day but I think they were around three to four dollars a peice. I know you can get them cheaper online but I wanted to taste them before I bought a bunch, I like the fruit punch and the grape.

Roheryn 0 Posted August 10, 2008 Welcome missinme!! I just started my preop yesterday!! It sucks but you can do it!! You just have to keep telling yourself that it will get better and hey you are now on your road to your new life and a healthier you! I hear things should get better by day 3-4!! My one hint for Protein drinks is mix them with COLD Water as they tend to taste better than using regular tap Water. Also drink plenty of water to hydrate yourself as you will get dehydrated!! Roheryn 0 Posted August 10, 2008 Ro in the mornings I actually used to have the choccie Optiyuck hot. My colleague at work couldn't believe I was drinking the stuff, but for some reason it kept me full for longer when it was hot.... Hmmmm I might have to give that a go but I'll wait until the weekend...I don't want to risk hating it if I do it during my work week I plan on waiting until I can get to work before having my brekky shake...I'm usually up by 615am and start work at 8am so if I can wait until I get to work, I will be able to manage the hunger better by starting the 'eating' later!! Well I'm going to give it a whirl! I also managed to get some groceries today a LOT quicker than usual and spent $60.00 less :crying:

mickeymammoth 0 Posted August 10, 2008 I don't have any sharp pains, but I do feel kind of gassy and bloated and heartburny. I have been burping a lot, too. I gave in and took another oxycodone today. Amazing how that takes the edge off! The thing I can't wait for is the mushy phase. For 5 days, I'm on full liquids. I can't tell you how sick I am of sweet Protein drinks and broth. I'm not really hungry per se, and I feel real revulsion for the things I can eat right now. On Tuesday, I can add in cottage cheese, yogurt, egg beaters (I think I'll use whole eggs), and refried Beans. That's for a few days, and then on to soft, pureed foods for 3 weeks. I can't wait!!! I have a bariatric cookbook with recipes you can blend etc. Nervous about 1st fill and having to avoid PBing, etc. But I know that's the whole point of being banded, and I just have to suck it up re: checwing, chewing, chewing... It's all very exciting!
