Has anyone heard of this Acai Berry Juice

Recommended Posts

I copied this from the web site - My friend sells it and it is suppose to be full of benefits and stuff. Expensive though

MonaVie is a delicious and healthy blend of 19 body-beneficial fruits - including the Brazilian açai berry, one of nature's top superfoods.

I have seen more on the Acai Berry, but I was going to ask the Nutritionist when I see her in September.

I know its been a long time since you posted but did anyone ever response to you about the Acai Berry juice? I have a friend who uses it and raves about it and I'm thinking of using it but just wondered how it would benefit someone who has had the lapband procedure. I had my done in May 2008.

I have a Friend who sells it. She approached me and I tasted it. To me it seemed like a pyramid type of selling. And it is VERY Expensive. Personal choice, hers was the Montivea or something like that at $35 per bottle, two bottles per case. A little pricy for me. But the good stuff is concentrated so less is more.

I would ask your Nutritionist.

Hi--

I drink an Acai Berry juice by a company called Bolthouse. I get it at costco in the refrigerated section. Two 32-oz bottles costs about $10. I was drinking it before my surgery and never thought to ask my nutritiionist about it. I incorporated it into my full-liquid diet and plan to continue using it now that I'm in the puree stage. I find it to be rather sweet, and don't drink more than a couple oz or so on any given day.

Bolthouse makes wonderful products. If you want to try it at a lower price, this might be something to consider. If costco isn't an option, I've also found it at Meijer.

Best,

Beautylocs

There was an article in the March/April 09 issue of Clean Eating Magazine about the Acai and Goji berries. The jist of the article was that while it has some great benefits that it is frequently mixed with other things, including sugar and to make sure that the first ingredient on any label lists the berry first; Ideally, it should be 100% fruit juice. It goes on to say that they can be quite expensive and you could spend that on great local produce and that most of the superfruits are either dried or juice and are more concentrated calories. The bottom line is that blackberries, cherries, blueberries and purple grapes are also chock full of anthocyanins and antioxidants. Hope this helps.

Great idea. I will ask the nutritionist that is in my bariatric surgeon's office. I was also thinking that why would I need this drink since I've already had the lapband procedure. I did not know about the price either. Thank you for your response.
