rondidq2 0 Posted August 2, 2008 Yesterday I had some tuna for lunch and ever since, I have had pain after swallowing in my chest and back especially when I swallow liquids. It almost feels like it spasms. Does any of this sound like I could have got some of the tuna stuck? If so what do I do? I have gone to a clear liquid diet, but like I said it really hurts after I swallow, so I have just been sipping little little bits at a time. I also seem to have some gas with this now, which hurts when I burp. I am 1 mo. post op and haven't had a fill yet. I had been eating soft foods since week 2. Guess I'm not really sure what's going on, any ideas?

Long2BFree 12 Posted August 2, 2008 Some people say drinking pineapple juice with meat tenderizer in it helps to get food unstuck.
rondidq2 0 Posted August 2, 2008 I'm just wondering if there is something stuck, because everything seems to go down, it just hurts or spasms when it hits the stomach. Nothing is coming back up at all, everything is still going down.
coltonwade 27 Posted August 2, 2008 I woudl call your doc . If you feel something is not right then something is probably not right . Best thing to do is call the doc that's what we pay them for .. good luck let us know what happens ! mIndy
Mimibate 0 Posted August 2, 2008 I go by the mantra that if it hurts, check it out, esp. when it has to do with the lapband. I had discomfort when swallowing some things at first, but not real pain. I sometimes feel like I am choking (similar to when I have a cold) and cough a lot until the feeling goes away, but that isn't to say I feel real pain. Bottom line, when in doubt, call the pros! mdgarcia31665 0 Posted August 2, 2008 I had that pain about a month and a half after being banded. I went to the doctor and he gave me pepcid (liquid because I can't swollow pills, they get stuck). I was having a reaction to the Calcium I was taking. (I was taking viactive). Call your doctor or the nurse and get in to see them. It doesn't sound like anything is stuck, when that happens nothing goes down and you start PBing. If you sip Water you can feel it go down and come right back up. That happened to me too. But I am no doctor and they are your best bet. Good Luck.
rondidq2 0 Posted August 2, 2008 Thanks, I think if it still hurts by Monday I will call and get in ASAP. I too am taking Calcium, so maybe I'll go to the drug store and get some liquid pepcid and try that also. Yea like I said, the liquid goes down, doesn't come back up just hurts when it hits the stomach like a spasm. I also tried the pineapple juice, so I think I am covering all the bases. Thanks Rondi
