Hello everyone.

I was banded on 6/23/08 and my story is no different than most. I am 66 y.o. and had tried everything that was ever published to lose weight. I have been obese since age 13.

My surgeon is Dr. Paul Ross of Spartanburg, SC and he is a true blessing for me:regular_smile:a kinder and more caring person could not be found!

I am doing well and have been surprised by the comfort zone I am in. I need to find a way and the time to exercise (walk) more. I have osteo and rheumatoid arthritis and can only walk for 10-15 minutes at a time.

I wonder if my weigh loss is comparable to others at this point in my "journey". I have lost 12 pounds in 5 weeks. Please advise.

I'm appreciative to this sight and the opportunity to meet new friends.

Thank you.

Pat

The lapband literature says that bandits can expect to lose an average of about 1-2 lbs a week over a year's time. That does not mean you'll lose 1 or 2 pounds every week.....it just means after a year your weight loss will average out about 1-2 lbs a week.

So happy for you that you were able to have the surgery......it's never too late for us 'older girls' to get a fresh start, is it! It has made a remarkable difference my life.....I wish the same for you!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
