I have finally done it. I was banded yesterday in Temple Texas after a very long wait. I have 100 lbs to lose and can hardly wait to get started. I would love to talk with others about their experience and what I can expect in the weeks and months to come. I feel great except for the soreness in my midsection and I am already looking forward to week 2 food choices. chicken broth and hot tea just are not very satisfying,:cursing:

Wow, congrats on feeling so well so soon after!:cursing: I was banded the day before and was not really feeling that well until late this afternoon. I too am greatly looking forward to full liquids, which I start tomorrow.

I was banded yesterday also, but because it was over an hours drive there, the Doc wanted me to stay the night. I checked in yesterdaY AT 11 thirty pm , had surgery at 1 thirty pm and left the hospital at 4 thirty pm this afternoon. Feel pretty good except for the shoulder pain from the gas which iI am taking gas-X for and the Dr. prescribed pain pills also. Good luck to you all. Jenhay

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
