U_go_gurl68 0 Posted August 1, 2008 Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself...i am from San Antonio Texas and have started my weight loss journery. Wish I could wake up and my 65 lbs be gone!!! Well hello to everyone! Does anyone ever feel scared that they will be the one exception that wont loose weight?:cursing: Hi there, Congrats on your banding. I was banded on June 30th. I need to schedule my first fill pretty soon. I have had good restriction for the most part, but now I am starting to get hungry more often. Still can't eat much at one sitting, but the hunger strikes sooner. I know how you feel. My scale barely moved 1/2 pound in the last two weeks. I guess it is because I am eating more regular foods now and well, because I had a lower bmi and it sounds like you did too, if all you have left to lose is 65 pounds. When you are heavier the weight comes off a little more rapid at first, but for people with a lower bmi the process could be much slower. That's what my surgeon said anyway. I am trying to be patient, it is just that people keep asking me all the time how much weight I have lost, not to mention wondering how I could spend so much money on something that takes forever to work and hard to do as well. I hear all the time, how dieting would have been just as effective. If that were true I would have been at my goal weight and stayed there years ago. I guess I shouldn't have told anyone. I should have known when I told one or two people at work, everyone would end up knowing. Just hang in there. I still believe it was all worth it. Even if I don't lose all the weight, I am learning better eating habits and getting healthier. Of course I would like to be thinner, but it is more about just being healthy or healthier than I am now. Best wishes, Stephanie PS By the way, I love San Antonio. I will have to hit you up sometime for referrals on places to go eat or hang out. We like to go every few months. I am from Waco.
Donna113 2 Posted August 1, 2008 I know what you mean when you say you wish you could just get up from surgery and magically be at your weight. I'd pay $100k for that! Ultimately though it is about getting healthier. In just these short 16 days since banding, I feel great because I have not stuffed myself once in those 16 days; all the bloating is gone and all the joint pains are gone. So even though I only lost 11 lbs, since I am no longer poisoning my body with foods that it could not tolerate, it has stopped punishing me with pain. How much is pain free existence worth? Thomas 0 Posted August 1, 2008 Sometimes exercise can mean all the difference if you are not seeing the pounds come off. Just a few miles on a treadmill each day can burn a lot of calories, but also speed up your metabolism. Don't wish the 65 pounds off all at once. Enjoy the journey and the triumphs you will have along the way. Good luck and enjoy the " new you ".
Perky66 1 Posted August 1, 2008 Hey everybody. I got banded May 14th. I just got my second fill Monday and am down 36 pounds. I am so excited about this. As everyone says, this is just a tool to help in this journey, but it is a great tool for me. I have been on every diet and magic pill out there and have probably lost 1000 pounds in my life only to gain back 1100. This is so much better and healthier. Like most of you, I have a strong family history of heart disease, diabetes and blood pressure problems and had been put on BP meds myself. I am so happy to say I am now off the meds and feeling so much better. My bones and joints don't hurt like they did. It is just great. Hope you will all feel the same. Good luck! By the way, I am from Northeast Texas, Texarkana area.
Melody2006 1 Posted August 1, 2008 I guess I shouldn't have told anyone. I should have known when I told one or two people at work, everyone would end up knowing. I know how you feel. I'm going to work in 2 weeks after being banded on 7/15/08 and I'm afraid now that I've told some co-workers when I go back the change might not be enough. I guess I shouldn't care. I really freaked out when I first went to real food again. That week I didn't loose at all. But I'm doing way more Protein and sticking to the rules and the weight is coming off again. I think a big key is not only daily exercise you enjoy, but cutting out white carbs (bread, rice, Pasta, etc.) It's not my favorite thing to do, but it works! Are you too really discussing whether you lost enough weight before you go back to work to Make YOUR COWORKERS Happy?? Your gonna be fine.... they'll see the habits have changed, and the weight will come off...
