I'm a newbie to lap band and your site. I was banded on 7/28, and I am just starting to get my energy back. I'm having a had time finding things to eat on my "thick liquid" phase. Jello and smoothies are too sweet, and cream Soups are gagging me.

Also, I'm having some persistent pain under the uppermost incision at the base of where my ribs meet. Is that normal? I have been coughing alot, can that dislodge anything?

I had my lap band done on the 15th of July and I had similar pain but it is now gone. Just hang in there.

In regards to eating I made my own homemade tomatoe Soup with canned tomatoes ( made sure the seeds were not included) and mixed garlic a bit of onion and celery and sauteed in pain with only oil spray. Mixed chicken broth and low fat powder milk until ingredients tender. pureed in blender. I figured since my Doc said I could have V-8 juice Tomato Soup would be okay. Good-luck!

Try the Atkins or SlimFast Low Carb shakes. You can cut them with milk so they won't be as sweet. Campbell's has a Tomato soup-at-hand that is low sodium. I get mine at Wal-Mart.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
