I used Dr Benavidas in Richardson. He was wonderful and knowledgeable. I was banded on 7-10 and have so far had no problems and 22 lbs lost so far since i started the process. I ended up choosing him after several people I knew recommended him. I'm really glad I did. I contribute my quick recovery in part to him being a great surgeon with lots of experience. Good luck on your journey!

My surgeon was Dr. Victor Gonzalez in Dallas. I loved him. Very sweet man and answered all my questions to my satisfaction. The office staff and nurses are also a very nice group of people.

I went through TLCEdge and he is the surgeon they scheduled me with. They work with many great surgeons in the DFW area.

Best wishes on your journey,

Stephanie

I used Dr. Richard Benavides, my surgury was 8/11/08 and I have had no problems. Staff is friendly and helpful and very nice. There is also a great support group that meets once a month. You can check him and the other doctors that he works with out at lapbandsolutions.com. They have an advertisement on this page that I have seen flashing at the top.

My surgeon was Dr. Wade Barker in Dallas. He was the second Dr. I saw before I decided to go with him. He does more bypasses than lap bands but I think he did a great job for me. I had very little post op pain. Good luck in your search. Make sure you find someone you are comfortable with.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
