PrincessLuzalot 0 Posted August 1, 2008 Hello; I am from Toronto, Canada and this is my introduction to this group. I come from a family with "weighty" issues. My Mother was heavy and lost weight through diet. My sister had gastric bypass 5 years ago and lost 110lbs. That surgery had her out of commission for a while. The risks with gastric bypass are so much more than Lapband. I believe lapband will really work for me, and I it sounds like you can right back to life with little time away from family and work. My husband and I have 2 children and 1 dog. We both work full time and I working towards a certificate at a local university for my next career. My job has involved a bit of travel and some long hours, and I find it hard to eat perfectly. I will need to be better at this! I can't believe that I weighed 301 pounds. I am now down 17 pounds with the pre-surgery regime. That gives me a sense of accomplishment. I know I will need more to keep going. I understand that the clinic has a scale to track the appropriate caloric intake needed to lose 2 pounds a week. Do any of you track fat, sugar and carbs? Do you keep a food diary? How do you find cooking for the family foods that you cannot eat? I can see this is a good place for support! Look forward to talking to you.
