Has anyone had any weird perks of having started losing weight?

Recommended Posts

Like what I mean is, is since having lost almost 40 lbs so far, now when I have coffee, chocolate or pop I get all jittery & kinda hyper , that has never happened before. It wouldn't matter how many coffees I had. Now, I'm practically bouncing off the wall ---- awesome time to go for a walk than. Has anyone else had that happen? I don't drink (only have once, and alcohol never affected me either), but I'm thinking if I did, that'd probably affect me too now.

My Dr says you can have coffee but not an entire pot of it. He says like one or two cups a day willnot hurt anything. He also says that most lapband Dr's seem to combine the same restrictions for lap banders and RNY'ers and he says that it really is two different surgeries. I hope that made sense?? He told me that for the most part banders can eat or drink anything but in moderation. I know I will probably hear a dozen different opinions on this but this is what MY Dr says. Also he is a VERY good Dr that was highly recommended to me. I unfortunately did not have my surgery with him but follow up with him. I have about two cups of coffee a day and I would be not a nice person if I was not able to !!

What was the deal with coffee? I still drink it and haven't noticed any negative effects yet, but if there are long term side effects, that would be good to know. I have recently given up soda completely, I've seen what that can do.

I hear that the deal with Caffeine is that it is an irritant to the lining of the stomach. The same reason for keeping off of the caffeine and limiting the alcohol is really the same. Since you have so little food in your stomach at any one time, the caffeine eats you up and the alcohol goes straight into your blood (cheap date!)

I was told no carbonated drinks but coffee is fine. I'm not a big coffee drinker anyway so I usually don't drink any.

One interesting thing since surgery has been alcohol's effect. Now, if I drink like 1 glass of wine I'm practically drunk. It's a good thing that alcohol has never been my vice (food takes that prize).

I was told no carbonation due to the gas it can build up in your stomach. i was told no caffeine because for several reasons...it's a natural diuretic, it slows down weight loss, and it's just not good! Well, it affects my palpitations so that's my reason. ENJOY!!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
