..and I have made an appt. for Monday, but was wondering if anyone else has ever experienced this.. I had my surgery about 8 months ago.. I'm fairly restricted.. Well, on Sunday I got stuck really bad... threw up pretty violently.. I haven't felt 100% since then.. I'm going thru extremes.. that Monday I was able to eat a good dinner. .had a pork chop and green Beans then the very next night I ate the same green beans and they nearly got stuck!! I have PB'd several times since that incident.. Well, Wed. morning I woke up and I felt horrible.. I wasn't really in a ton of pain, just uncomfortable... It feels like I have a lot of gas build up for some reason...can NOT get rid of it..I did not have this much gas after surgery.. I have no idea what's going on.. I'm hoping that the PB'ing is just aggravating my stoma and that it is just irritated and causes things to get stuck. I don't think that the band has slipped, wouldn't I be throwing up with everything I ate and be in a lot of pain? Ideas, anyone?? Thanks!!

I would suggest that you go on liquids to mushies for a couple of days so that your stomach can have a little rest. It is obviously irritated for whatever reason and may stay irritated unless you give it a rest. I found for me that if I have a bad PB, I will continue to have them unless I spend a day on liquids. After a day on liquids I feel a whole lot better.

I don't know enough about slips since I haven't experienced one, but I have read that some people who have them immediately can't get anything down, or they are uncomfortable until they get progressively worse over a short period and then they also can not get anything down. If there is a small slip, they may unfill your band to let your stomach relax and allow the band to reposition naturally.

I think going on liquids can only help your situation.

I have read many times on the forum that the best thing to do if you have a bad stuck episode is to go on liquids after until things calm down. You could have just irritated the esophogus and it needs time.

If you are still having trouble with food I would stay on liquids until you see your Dr.

Thanks Ladies! It's amazing how you automatically adjust to situations.. I already decided yesterday that I would stay on mushies and if that didn't work to go on liquids... Great minds think a like. Hope this feeling subsides! Thanks for responding.

PB = Productive burp.... when you get food stuck and it won't go down, so it has only one way to go.. it comes back up.

Yes, I'm extremely happy with my surgery, I believe it's one of the best things I've ever done for myself. Good luck with your journey.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
