NO fluoro!!! Yea!!! :)

Recommended Posts

I went to a local Dr. here for other reasons and talked to her about my Band.(she is also a bandster and trained to do fills) I told her that I would love to have her do my fills for me but my port was sooooo deep that you need fluoro to do it. My surgeon has tried on many occasions without success. She said she would try and Quess what??? She found it and gave me a fill! First stick! They only thing I am worried about now is that she could only pull out 2.2cc's. I know for a fact I had more than that in there. I have a 10cc band and my first fill was 3cc's and my 2nd was about that. this was my 4th fill. Where is the cc's going?

OH where, OH where have my cc's gone? OH where, OH where can they beeee? smile.gifsmile.gifsmile.gif

I was very excited about having it done localy and without fluoro. The cost was only 75$ compaired to $200. No time off work and no loooooong trip to see my surgeon.

Wahoooo! That is good news about a less expensive and closer fill! I like your where O where have my cc's gone song...but it makes me worry! Could you have a leak? Oh no! Are you feeling good restriction? How much more did she put in after taking out the 2.2ccs? Well, at $75, you can afford to visit a little more often for an adjustment? That's great! Keep us posted!

I've heard a lot of fill doctors that take out an amount different than what you thought was in there. My last guy said the first doctor simply measured wrong. I think it's fab that you got a great, affordable fill. Just promise us you'll have fluoro every so often so they can keep an eye on your band. I have several friends that didn't even know they had erosion, and the first signs were seen on fluoro. So while no-flouro fills are great, it's good-band-maintenance to take a LQQK-see from time to time. How's that new fill feeling? Good restriction?

There is usually air in your tubing and many experienced band doctors will extract all of the air before your first fill. It is only needed the one time at your first fill, you will know it when the extract the air from the tubing too, it is an awful pressure type pain like an elephant on your chest as he is doing it. If your Dr. does not do this, this can explain for what you think is a loss of Fluid. If there is air, and then they fill it will be a false read when you pull out all the Fluid the next fill and so on. My Dr. pulls out the air and the threee fils I had were righht on the numbers when he removed it.

I agree with Delarla about the flouro thing.. Fluoro is good for peace of mind and to see your band and port is still in place and your pouch is not stretched.

Thanks all, Yes Lisa I do plan on going to my surgeon and flouro for my next fill. :) I don't want to ever take a chance with my band. I have a pretty good restriction now so hopefully it will continue. If there is not enough in there next time I will ask him about it.

Michelle, I am not sure about air in my tubing?? Something to think about!

Thanks again guys!! :D :D :)

I never have had fluro, so I think that's okay. However, if you start to have problems, then I would get a fluro x-ray done. But to save $125.00 it's worth not having fluro.

I wouldn't worry about the CCs for now. If you go back to her, have her take the saline out and see what you got. If you keep using her, you shoudln't see much of a loss in saline.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
