Chocolate can get stuck!!

Recommended Posts

So here's a new one. Remember how I said that chocolate is my downfall and I wish it got stuck? Well, apparently I jinxed myself. I haven't had anything more solid than pudding since my fill last Thursday. Today my son gave me a piece of chocolate break-up that was softened. He loves chocolate too, all 69 pounds of him. Anyway, I was hungry and that piece went down so I had another. I had only taken in about 50 calories by then and needed some energy. All of a sudden, I felt the stuck pain and started pbing and sliming...for an hour! My son had an eye exam and I had to keep going into the bathroom at the opticians. Can't imagine what they thought was wrong with me! How embarrassing.

This was as bad as when I got stuck on shrimp. How?! Chocolate melts!! I have such a big gas bubble that comes back whenever I drink anything so maybe the chocolate couldn't get past the bubble. I had a bubble like that for 10 days after surgery so maybe it will go away soon. Right now, I'm trying to get down a little egg drop Soup and it won't stay down. I'll give this to Monday or as long as I can stand it. I have an appointment with the nurse practioner next Friday. Instead of another fill like she thinks she's giving me, I may need an unfill. I would like to hold out till then and get a few more pounds off but this is miserable! I'm gonna try till either I can't get down any liquid at all or go nuts!

{{{{{Cindy}}}}} I hope you feel better. Girl you have had a time lately. Knock on wood the only real stuck I had involved a some new meds. It was a capusule. Dear Lord I thought I couldn't be more miserable.

Don't know if it's true but I've hear Benedryl helps when you have a stuck. Something about it reducing swelling. It would be worth the try, but I would do th liquid rather than the pills.

Wendy, I'm going to pick up some liquid Benedryl tomorrow. The stuff tastes awful and makes you sleepy but if it works I will happily gulp it down. This fill reminds me of how I felt a week after surgery. It was hard to revel in the weight loss because I was so miserable with gas pain. 10 days after surgery, I was in the ER getting IV liquids for dehydration because I couldn't sip Water without getting gas pain and pbing. An x-ray showed a big gas bubble above the band and I think its back. It finally popped a few days later which is why I'm trying to wait before calling the doc. The weight loss is great but why does it have to come with such a price?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
