Krislyn 0 Posted July 31, 2008 Hi, I am so nervous. I will be banded on Aug.6, 2006 at Cedars Sinai. I am afraid it will just be another failed attempt to loose weight. I am also scared about not being able to eat for three weeks and feeling weak and low blood sugar. I have mild or pre-diabetes and take 15 mg. of Actos daily. Sometimes I feel low and have to eat. I dont know. I have had shakes alone and felt low and needed to eat something high in carbs to feel ok. Anyone else?
Surgery4me 0 Posted July 31, 2008 My Date is Aug 6th too...In Orange County. I'm a mix of nervous and excited. I don't have the diabetic issue to deal with, but everything I read says the lap band should help your situation. I also have the concern about failing. I think we just need to put the determination in our head that we will NOT fail this time. Once we find the right fill level and have our hunger squashed by the band, I know it will be a breeze...as long as you keep your head right! Seeing the pounds fall off will help me stay on track and I'm sure that is the same for many of us. Hang in there! We've got 6.5 days to go and mentally prepare. I just keep reading and reading and reading some more. There is very little negative information to find about what we are doing. This is a GREAT thing we are doing for ourselves and our families! We can do it!
bas 0 Posted July 31, 2008 I was nervous too ... but don't be. Having the band will help you control your portions while YOU make the right food choices. The only way I ever was able to loose significant weight in the past was to eat below 1,000 calories a day. I "suffered" doing that. With the band, it's been MUCH easier ..... and I haven't even had my first fill yet. (But will next week - yea!) I'm very happy with my decision, I hope you will be as well. smiles32 0 Posted July 31, 2008 I just had my band placed on july 28th, I can tell you that 3days out I have not had much of an appetite to worry about. I do feel weak and somewhat like I am just getting over the flu. Otherwise everything has been great. I am sure that they will help you out with the diabetes. Ihave a friend who had this done and he is now off all his blood pressure medications and his insulin and only on one oral medications and they don't think that will last for long. So keep you chin up you are doing the right thing.
