Hi everyone-

I'm so excited (not just because Project Runway is on tonight LOL) Today I got a ton of my diagnostic stuff done! My surgeons scheduler has been awesome and she booked me in for ultrasound, chest x-ray, EKG & pulmonary workup, labs, and my EGD all for today! Everything went really smoothly. I didn't even mind the fasting. I got a nice long nap this afternoon after we got home and now I'm just taking it easy.

Only a few more things until it is surgery date! Woot!

Hey, way to go.

I am still waiting for my Psyc Consult, Stress EKG and my Nutritionist. I was approved for the surgery, but the little things are killing me.

I thought maybe it was just me....Im so worn down from all these tests and appointments. It doesnt help that my work is kinda pissy when I am gone too much. I already did the psych, nutritionist, a physical, 6 months worth of appointments with my general practicioner, and endoscopy, a sleep study, and a pulmonary function test. I have a surgery date so all I have left is the pre admission testing (which takes about 2 - 2 1/2 hours) and one other small blood test. Its just exhausting chasing around making sure everyone got everything they were supposed to get. Not to mention, they are about to submit my paperwork to Cigna, so stressing about that too. Ahhhh! I hope I make it to September 8th without jumping out my 12th floor window at work!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
