I agree, I get plenty of Protein. My surgeon has been really surprised that I am losing hair. I am going to see my family doctor on Monday just to make sure nothing is wrong.

I have never lost hair after surgeries - gall bladder, hysterectomy, etc. - in the past.

I have lost hair during weight loss in the past - quick weight loss (Optifast and fen-phen).

I have always had thin hair, but it's definitely happening again. Sigh.

I went to the doctor today and he is checking my thyroid. He gave me some Vitamins, juice Plus, to try. He wants me to take them for a month and see if they help. They are capsules so I have to break them up. They are supposed to be really good.

I've tried juice Plus and they are pretty good. Not sure if they will help with the hair loss.

I'm using Nioxin Shampoo and a Nioxin gel I rub into my scalp where it's thinning. I'm also taking Biotin.

I noticed some little wispies growing in at my hairline, so maybe there is hope.

I've taken pre-natal Vitamins in the past and always liked how they affected my hair and nails, but lately it doesn't seem to be having the same affect, so I guess I'd have to agree with you, WASA. But I guess they can't hurt??

I answered this poll a while back and said I hadn't lost hair. However, after about 5 months post op I thinned out and it was noticeable to me. no one else said anything. I started taking Biotin again and I am back to normal again.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
