Bathing Suit Shopping - Good Grief

Recommended Posts

I have a few events coming up that will require a bathing suit. I refuse to sit on the side lines after having dropped so much weight, like I have done for the last several years. This put me in the precarious position of purchasing swim wear. ACK !!!

When I was a teenager I had dropped 135 lbs on my own ( of course I couldn't keep it off) and only had mildly flabby arms to contend with. Ten years later and I am not as fortunate. Besides my arms, my thighs are awful and I have a shelf for an abdomen from having a c-section. Yet some how I am now nearly flat chested ( weight loss and nursing perhaps ?) A plastic surgeon could make a fortune off of me.

Ok enough complaining so my body isn't perfect and I am probably being overly critical anyway I purchased a black Tankini top ( off the rack for Macy's Misses section YEAH!) and am looking for men's board trunks ( ever notice how men's trunks go down to the knee and women's boy shorts stop just under your bottom ?) I figure I can throw an old tee over my make shift suit. Does anyone have any suggestions ? Or their own experiences ?

You might want to give the skirted bottoms a try. Don't think "old lady", because it's not. Think, "hides the stomach and inner thighs really well" because it does.

WTG, on the attitude about getting out there and having fun!

skirted bottoms are my bottom of choice but they tend to dry really really sloooooooooowly. as for the board shorts, in the past i've had suits that had bottoms like that but were for women. they had the bathing suit/underwear type thing with shorts attached. here's an example: JCPenney : Bandeau Shorts Set. covers up any issues without looking old ladyish

A bathing suit is ALWAYS worth a decent spend. You will never regret buying a great one.

I may be lucky enough to be able to wear a bikini but believe me I cannot simply walk into a store and buy any old one. I have to buy for the "larger" figure even though I'm not a larger figure at all.

But teeny triangle tops and really ultra hipster bottoms, nuh uh, not a good look on a 40 year old. Forget flimpsy bathing suits from Target too, a decent suit here in Australia is going to cost $150 but its SO worth it. Decent coverage with the top, bust enhancing padding etc, good quality thicker fabric, double lining, all of it just pulls you together so much and can make you look really lovely in your suit even if you're not perfect. Add a nice soft fake tan and you can hold your head high.

I like the It Figures line. They have suits for just about every body type. I like the ones with the tankini and skirt. The skirts are actually longer than most. They sell them at Fashion Bug, but they may not have many left this time of year. I bought one on ebay and I love it.

Ummm Ivyrose325..............You have lost over 125 lbs.... you no longer need to fret! Yes you may feel a bit uncomfortable with your new body, but geez girl, its time for you to celebrate! Get a suit that has a "shaper" in it and get out there! Your going to need some adjustment time to percieve the new you so far, try JCPenney on line.

Depending on where you are in the country you may hit a major sale too!

Good luck, and many hugs and attaboys for such amazing success!!!!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
