One week of bad eating has ruined an entire month of good eating and excerise for me. The first month after surgery I was going to the gym 5 to 6 days a weeks, eating right, small portions, I was doing well. Then "summer" hit and I got caught up in barbeques and party after party and night outs with friends and I gained 5 lbs. I just had my second fill (2.5 cc for a total of 5.5 cc's in a 10 cc band) and the nurse told me I had only lost 4 oz this month. I wanted to cry. I am so angry with myself. And I think the alcohol had a big part to play in me gaining weight back. It seems every other day for the past week I'm at some party and having a few drinks which makes me eat so I'm not stumbling after 1 drink. I just wasn't being calorie conscience or health wise at all this past week and I blew it. Still staying away from major fast food, but I did visit KFC twice and Olive garden once, then buying lunch at work everyday. I've even been skipping on the gym too, I'm down to 3 days a weeks now and I don't even work that hard when I'm there. It's so sad and frustrating. I know this is a lifestyle change so I'm going to brush myself off, stand up and start all over again. I had no resriction at all before, hopefully this 2.5 cc's he put in today will make some kind of change. I just needed to vent, I was literally on the brink of tears when I left the doctors today.:)

Stop beating yourself up. We all slip up. The good news is that you see what went wrong. Now get back on the horse and start again!

You can do it!!!

don't beat yourself up for too long, we've all been there, banded or not!! I think summer is harder then the holidays in winter to stay on track.. BBQ's,, days at the lake, carnivals and fairs. At least on holidays there is a better chance of their being at least a few healthy things that don't contain mayo or grease!!

Going to the gym is a huge undertaking for me.. I love it when I'm in to it, but as soon as I get distracted for a minute I lose my momentum. It is one of my goals to take on again when the kids get back to school at the end of august.. If I don't start to lose even a few pounds the doctors won't even consider giving me a date for surgery..

Hope today is better for you!!

Well, you know what the problem is, now the question is: What are you going to do about it?

The Lap band is only a tool, you still need to do your share.

I think we all know exactly how you're feeling. We ARE going to fail and the important thing is to pick yourself up and get back on track. Just think about this, before you had the band, would you be ready to pick yourself up now, or would you let this bad trend continue for another few weeks or months until finally, that losing streak is but a distant memory and you can't even begin to get back in touch with what it takes to get on track? You've caught yourself, you've slapped yourself on the butt and now you can get back in the groove!

I am not sure why you are drinking at all?? You are really not supposed to be drinking until several months after surgery, if at all. Were you drinking beer? Beer is carbonated which can stretch your pouch back out. Try to refrain from drinking and think about why you put your body through the surgery in the first place.

Think about your long term goal and stick to it. You can do it!! :)

Nance is right. Before the band, I would diet, and very successfully. Have been to my goal weight twice, and then...I would fall off the wagon, and that darn wagon just went speeding off. I would look around, and think, "oh well...I might as well live it up." And I would....sometimes for a year or two at a time. And gain all the weight back.

You are doing great. You lost 4oz. Not the goal you had in mind, but if you are like me, pre-band, that would have been a 10 lbs gain! You are way ahead of the game with this powerful tool to help you regain control. If we didn't have an eating problem, we wouldn't have needed the band in the first place.

While it would be ideal to resume ALL the activities and behaviors that were bringing you success, it might need to be broken down in small steps. Start by eliminating one or two of the behaviors that led you to this place. Then, as you gradually regain resolve, and control, keep adding in the behaviors that were beneficial. You can do this! You've already made the first step!

You are so smart!!!! You have figured out what the problem was!!! That is the first step, now take the next and then the next and soon you will be right back doing what you were doing when you were losing!!!GOod luck!! You can do this!!

Don't think of it as ruining all that successful time, think of where you would be if you'd spent that entire month not going to the gym or watching your diet. When you mess up, brush yourself off and get right back to it, whether it's a meal or a day or a week or a month. Put it behind you, you are doing great!

Get back to basics! Learn to say no to eating at bar-b-ques or eat before you go so you're not tempted to eat around the band.. and as far as the alcoholic drinks, those are super high calories that your body is just waiting for you to suck down so it can slam it to your hips... find a lower calorie alcholic drink if you feel you have to have it .. try looking up diabetic diet website .. there's sure to be a low cal drink on there .. concentrate on following the lap band rules for the last 6 weeks of summer and when you hit the labor day b-b-q, you'll be down quite a few more lbs and you'll feel great... it's temporary but hopefully it will get you motivated again!!! DO NOT GIVE UP!!! you deserve to be thinner and healthier!!!!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
