I need a new scale (accurate)!

Recommended Posts

I have three scales at home. The first one I bought was a mid-range digital scale $18 or so, not too expensive and fairly simplistic. I found that if I step off and back on, I came in at different weights . . . . which made me crazy.

. . . . so I bought a different digital scale for about $60, lithium battery which will last forever, weighs down to fractional pounds, supposed to be much better than all the rest . . . and darn it if I didn't step on and step off and come in at a different weight (the weight might be in fractions of a pound but you don't gain/lose 0-3 pounds immediately by stepping off a scale).

. . . . I was annoyed by the whole scale issue and was wandering around target and saw a $7 scale with one of those little display wheels that spins around to your weight, a little old fashioned, white and not really attractive. Would you believe that the cheapest and most simplistic scale technologically was the best. I step off and on and I am always the same. I am absolutely sold on the el cheapo scale and the others are in my closet and will become garage sale fodder. Digital did not work well for me.

I am going to stop at Target after work and take your advice. I think these crazy digital scales are for the birds! :wink2:

I think the old school ones with the spinning wheel is the way to go!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
