Can't stop baking

Recommended Posts

I am a cake decorator and baker. So, for the past few weeks I have been baking out of control. Not only stuff for orders but stuff I know I can't eat after the surgery. Like today, I put together some Dulce de Leche cookie bars for my husband. I had to taste one. LOL It's weird. Before I decided on surgery I never ate the sweet stuff. I think being around it so much kind of turned me off from it.

I have also been cooking non-stop too. I am a bit of a foodie. Tomorrow I am making tamales. I have never made them before (I can't find them anywhere up here in Vancouver, WA) but I want to have some before the surgery.

Is anyone else doing this? It's like I want to taste everything now before I can't have it. While I know most of this stuff I could eat with the band it is stuff that I won't eat with the band. What is the point of having the surgery if I am not going to change, ya know.

What is the one thing you want to eat before your surgery?

I do the same thing when I am starting a diet...have one last "x" before the fun stops. I suppose I'll have some Pasta from macaroni Grill and maybe a few Hooters wings. Really, at this point I am so excited about the upcoming surgery that I'm happy to do whatever the doc tells me about the pre op diet.

Good luck to you!

I don't have my consult until August 5th. Trust me whatever Dr. K says I will do. I have waited way too long for this!

September just needs to get here already!

I too love to cook and bake. I found that baking dog biscuits helps tame my desire to have flour up to my elbows, keeps me cooking without any danger of weight gain and makes all the dogs around very happy! Good Luck

That is such a great idea!! I am sure my Piggies (that is what I call my two dogs LOL) would love me even more.

Thanks for the tip!

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
