Hi,

I was banded 2/4/08 and have only lost 42 lbs so far. 61 lbs is just awesome. Keep up the great work. I am so grateful for my band as well.

This is my first post. Had to work up the courage as I have never done anything other than email before. Both of my kids are in college and laugh at me. I only managed to send them text messages a little while ago. I do a lot of work with computers but never any social networking. I have been reading peoples' posts since I began in February and have gotten a lot of answers to my questions. This seems to be a great group of people.

The first week is probably the toughest Lisa. I was sore from surgery, but the thing that bothered me the most was the gas. I had my surgery on a Thursday and went back to work the following Monday. Recovery wasn't too bad. It too me a whole week to feel more like myself though. A heating pad works wonders. So does walking around. My doctor had me on a liquid diet. It wasn't too bad at first, because I just wasn't hungry. I was still swolen from surgery and it was hard to get enough liquids in. It is all worth it though.

Oh thank you I am nervous about the whole thing and I have off from Aug 5th until the 13th....I guess that is plenty of time. I am concern about what to eat, or not and what to start drinking and all. I am sure befoer I leave the hospital they will give me a diet to follow, well that's what I was told from them. I just want it hear and I want to move on lol

Thank You

Lisa

I have a question has anybody tried popcorn after getting their band? I was told that could be a problem food. I just want to know if anybody has had a problem with it going down or getting stuck.

I am actually eating popcorn right now. I have had 4 or 5 fills (up to 8 cc in a 10 cc band) and i have no trouble with popcorn what so ever those 100 cal bags are my friend... though some people may differ

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
