Ok I had surgery 4/23 and have lost 40 pounds and it's just now sinking in that I am getting closer to onederland.. But the best thing ever was before surgery I couldn't even reach my feet to tie my shoes and last night I watched tv for hours sitting indian style with my legs folded and comfortable!

Plus I tied my shoes this morning haha

Brandy - that is awesome! I don't ever think of my legs shrinking. I'm concentrating on my middle (I guess it bothered/bothers me the most). I was the same way - lol

I couldn't tie my shoes, bend over to pickup anything. Can you cross your legs yet? Oh that's a biggie!

Yes I CAN! I just tried haha.. Thanks for the idea!

I started at 267 and this morning hit 227!

I am a shorty though so my weight is like compact haha I am 5' 2"

Now I gotta think of new things to try to see if I can do them.

Ooh, here's another one. I realised this past weekend I could sit with my legs toward my chest and rest my arms on top of my knees. I was at the beach and did it...the stomach didn't block me! I was so giddie! I love NSV's!!! Keep posting! :-) You don't realise the simple things that we miss because we're fat.

I don't want to sound stupid, but what does NSV stand for?

The only stupid question is the one never asked :eek:

NSV= Non scale Victory

Congratulations on your NSV!!! Those are great ones. The one I love the very most I think is going into a restaurant and being able to sit at a booth. With room to spare. I can still remember the day that happened. I cried.

      I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
