6 months out and pregnant

Recommended Posts

I was banded on Jan 23, 2008 at Eglin Hosp. Three days after my husband left for a four month deployment. I have lost nearly 45lbs with 65 to go. The hubby is now home and happy to be here. Then on the 15th I found out that I am pregnant. I can't help but be nervous. I original surgeon has left and I now have another surgeon who is caring for me but I'm concerned. He wants to take all of the Fluid out my band. I have read that it isn't necessary to remove all of the fluid. But he is bent on removing all of my fluid. I just don't know what to do. I am really not comfortable with this new surgeon or his nurse. I want other options. Anybody got any advice

check the prego forum and see others experience, but if he wants to take the Fluid out because he is worried about the baby let him. The baby comes first. You can always restart after you deliver a nice healthy child.

Congratulations! Keep us updated, I'm especially curious as to what happens since I plan on having another baby too.

My surgeon told me that if I was to get pregnant that they would completely unfill my band so that could get down more nutrition...now that you are pregnant you have to think of what is best for your baby...you can lose weight after :cursing: good luck

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
