if after banding (after feeling 100 % better) if you have any difficulties sleeping on your stomachs? I just thought about that last night while I was laying in bed. I have such a hard time sleeping on my back and ALWAYS end up on my stomach. I was just wondering if the port being there if it causes any discomfort or pain. Thanks :):D

I still get some discomfort when I sleep on my left side/stomach. I think it's the actual band that I'm feeling and not the port. It's not too painful, but sometimes I have to move around to get a comfortable position.

I have found that a full body pillow really helps me get comfortable on both my side and front. I have been using it since my surgery and probably always will now.

I can sleep on my stomach just fine. I can feel the port, but just in a "I know it's there" kind of way. It's not uncomfortable, or remotely painful, for me. :)

Carmen, I know how you feel! I have slept on my stomach since I was a baby, and it's sssssooooooo hard for me to get to sleep when I try to lay on my back. After my surgery, It took about 5 weeks before I could even move to sleeping on my right side, and now that I'm abgout 7 weeks post op, I can finally sleep on my stomach again! :) So hang in there, you'll be able to sleep on your stomach again some day!

After my incisions healed, I began stomach-sleeping and haven't quit since .. my port is smack in the middle of my belly .. so it may be more in evidence as I lose weight .. we'll see.

Hope not!

Dedicated tummy sleeper ..

I have always slept on my stomach. I can't sleep on my back at

all. I have been able to sleep on both of my sides since surgery, but I haven't attempted my stomach yet. I also use a pillow, and have to readjust sometimes, but it is getting better everyday. I hope to be back on my tummy before long! Banded three weeks!:)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
