Washington State Microsoft Employees??

Recommended Posts

Are there any Microsoft FTE here that live in WA (work in Redmond, Sammamish, etc...)? My hubby is possibly up for a position there and if he gets it, we plan on taking MS insurance. I heard it's BCBS...is that true? If so, have you had problems getting your surgery? What were the requirements? TIA!

I can't really answer your question, but a couple of years ago one of our local newspapers did a big feature article on a married couple who were each having gastric bypass surgery on the same day and their insurance covered it..... they met at Microsoft and I think still worked there at the time of their surgery. Just for curiosity's sake, here is a link to one of the articles... http://community.seattletimes.nwsource.com/archive/?date=20030706&slug=obese06m

Good luck to you.... and if you end up here in the Seattle area, I hope you love it!

Microsoft insurance is Premera, and it does cover lap band surgery, as well as gastric bypass.

The requirement is similar to other insurers - a letter of medical necessity from your primary care physician, as well as proof of unsuccessful weight loss.

Good luck to your husband.

Thanks for the info! We don't know anyone personally enough up in WA to ask what kind of insurance they have up there. It would be like asking where your desk will be before you even get an interview, LOL! Now, I can start looking into docs up there and "get in the know" ...Thanks so much for the good luck wishes

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
