I've posted on this link in the past. And I'm excited to say that I am finally pregnant! After 2 years of trying. I'm excited, scared, nervous, and about a million of other emotions. I'm not very far along, so I really really hope that the baby will stick and keep growing.

Congratulations, Tink!

I think the extended hoping, wishing, praying, makes the final outcome that much more sweet!

Do you have an expected due date yet? Mine is March 19th.

Hey ladies,

Well, i'm in the 2WW right now and i was just saying the other day that i wasn't feeling very hopeful because i wasn't feeling any different than i did last cycle when i got a BFN, but then yesterday i had some slight spotting. Could it be implantation bleeding? Well, i had some more spotting today and it's supposedly the time in my cycle where implantation would be occuring.

I am trying not to test until Wed, but i may just go for it tomorrow morning. We'll see.

My sister thinks i'm crazy for obsesssing. But's all in good fun, right!

Update, that "implantation bleeding" seems to be my period! It really started light but then last night i had really bad cramps and this morning there it was...my period.

I tested anyway and it was BFN. I am disappointed and a little frustrated b/c i wasn't expecting my period until 7/26 so this was quite a bit early. I guess what this means is that my cycle is still trying to get regular after 10 years on the pill. I think this is why they say you should wait 3 months after going off the pill. It just spares you the frustration of an irregular cycle.

Anyway, i am feeling a bit down, (and crampy, boy i hate being off the pill!). I feel silly to feel down when it's only been 2 cycles, but hey, i can't help it.

I had my first ultrasound today! The tech said that everything looked good and healthy. But she pushed my EDD to March 10th or 13th, I can't remember. Hearing the heartbeat made all of this really real.

My name is Stephanie. Hello all.... I was banded on June 21, 2010. I desperately want a baby, hence the band. Starting 4 years ago i started having irregular periods bad and very HEAVY flow when I did have one. I'm talkin 5-6 months straight of bleeding, then nothing for another 5 months. Anyways my period has started to regulate a lil better after 32 lbs gone. I have an appointment with OBGYN this Thursday and my first fill is on Wednesday. I love to read everyones inspirational stories about infertility and conceiving after the band. I hope I soon join that group. We have been intimate for 7 years with no protection and no baby. Also I dont know if this helps. But I had blood work done and my progesterone level was at a 0.5 when the average healthy womans level is at a 6.0 so no progesterone no ovulation it was very simple to me and less stressful after coming to that realization. So yea thats all of the info I have... Good Luck to all and I will keep yall updated on my progress!!!

i was banded on aug 12 - too soon to be thinking about getting pg.

infact i've told dh not to come near mean until jan - he's none too pleased

i'm already 42 and running out of time for a second child. dd is going to be 5 in october and we have wanted a sibling for her since 6 months after she was born.

those who have been pg on the band, did morning sickness effect the band?

i had morning sickness from 6 weeks to the day dd was born every day.

if i had that much morning sickness while banded would that shift the band or cause problems?

Hello lovely ladies,

I stumbled upon this thread and was happy to read that others are obviously going through some of the things that I have. I have felt so alone about all of this, but my hubby and I started trying to conceive back in February and since then have had two early miscarriages . . and then last month I got an ovulation test and my last cycle we pinpointed a good time to try to conceive and . . 'tried'. I am now a week late so was excited that maybe we were finally pregnant but have just started spotting this afternoon and I'm devastated. I want to cry and scream and . . . oh I don't know.

I'm just very tired and emotional I suppose and I'm so exhausted after this year.

I want to try and stay positive but am finding it really hard at the moment

Hello Ladies,

Here is my backstory... I am 32 years old and my husband and I will be celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary in May 2011. We have been trying to concieve since our wedding night. We have been to a fertility doctor and have done two rouonds of IUI... In September of last year it worked but out deep heartache we lost the baby in late November. I took that as my last straw and decided to have the lap band procedure. I was banded on October 1st and since I started the program I am happy to report I am down 59 lbs. My surgeon advised that we wait at least 6 months before we try again... I would like to be down 100 lbs before we start trying so I figure we would be at the 6 mo mark by then. I want more than anything to start my family - we are both SO ready! I know since we have been trying so long it doenst magically mean its going to happen right away either - I have a fear of the long wait again and the loss again. Just looking for some support and to see if anyone out there has been through a similar experience. Thanks a bunch and congrats to you all form taking the steps to get your life back!

-Crissy

It is nice to know I am not alone. I am 27 and my husband is 35, married 4.5 years and have been trying to conceive for about 8 months. We have been doing pregnancy planning for over a year, including genetic testing, etc. We started with fertility treatments right off the bat in order to do gender selection with Microsort, a clinical trial, because of Autism risk (it is much more prevalent in boys). But after five IUIs, I am not pregnant. After thinking on it we have decided to try naturally for a few months, and then if still no pregnancy, our insurance will cover IVF.

I am really concerned about weight since with the fertility meds I gained so much-- 20 pounds! The injectibles were the worst, I litterally gained two inches in one week. And the weight isn't budging. I am tracking my calories and I just don't get it. So I made an apointment and it is finally comming up this week. I want a fill. I worry about things like my blood pressure and stuff being high during pregnancy.

The trying to conceive is so frustrating-- I have wanted a baby for quite some time but we were waiting until I was mostly finished with grad school and done with things like student teaching. Since I am on meds now for narcolepsy and fibromyalgia, and I will be off those for at least part of pregnancy my functional level goes down.

I've had the basic tests-- my HSG is normal, my hormone levels are normal, etc. My Lutenizing Phase tends to be short, (I have a short cycle, three weeks) so I got progesterone for that. DH has normal sperm analysis. So it just hasnl't happened yet.

I get really sad and frustrated-- I feel like I would be a great mom-- I have a lot of education related to child development! I am at the right spot in my life too. Then I get ahead of myself and worry about time lines. I want to be done with child bearing before I turn 31. And I also need to work on developing my career and losing weight. But this fertility stuff sort of puts my life on pause.

I am the sort of person who really likes rules. (Yup, I was one of those kids too). I feel like if I follow the rules, I am supposed to have things happen, e.g. A + B= C And I feel like I am doing A and B, but I don't have C. And this leads me to ask why and get all confused. I am following the rules, so to speak, I am doing what I was told I should do, I am following the steps. But still no baby. I take the folic acid, I use the fertility monitors, I take the meds, I monitor my cycle, I do this and I do that....

These entries ROCK!! I was so happy reading everyone's post. Im NOT THE ONLY 1, lol. I will be banded in a couple of weeks. I was diagnosed with having a thyroid diease which resulted in me gaining 100 pounds. I have been through iodine radiation in order to stop an overactive thyroid, but now its underactive, hence the weight gain. But before all of that we were trying and crying. So then my thyroid was pinned as the problem, then it was my weight. So now since Ive started the banding journey, I have also seen a fert specialist. We learned that I'm fine, the radiation didnt scramble my eggs :-), I do have to get some weight off, hence the band. But we did find out that my hubby has a rare birth defect. He was born without vas deferens. The cause is unknown. Sometimes they link it to cystic fibrosis, but he doesnt have that. So our process is a little bit intense.

So Im excited about being banded. That's our first step to being parents, and living a healthy lifestyle. Since he has no vas defernes, the dr has to surgically remove his sperm. Then its an IVF procedure. I thought they could just inject me with a turkey baster, lol, but his sperm does not swim, the tail becomes attached as it is moved through the vas defernes (wow right?). So I have to be put on meds to over ovulate, and both surgical procedures, my egg extraction, and his sperm extraction has to be performed at the same time. Then they have to "make us a test tube baby" (the exact words of the fert dr.) Whew, alot huh?

So, thats our story. Im excited and a little overwhelmed. I dont know how all of this is going to go. Still a little nervous, but good nervous, about the banding.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
