Hi Everyone.

I was banded on July 21st. After almost a year of waiting for insurance to approve, it was finally done! I can't believe all the emotions that I have been feeling since. I only had to do Clear liquids the weekend prior to surgery. Lost 10 lbs! Amazed, I remember thinking in pre-op that you know I never really tried that hard to lose any weight. Me, I am always looking for an easy way out of things. Well, these first 6 days have been the hardest days of my life. I wished that I have never done this. I guess I didn't research as much as I should have I wish I knew of this website. I didn't even have that much pain or gas, just the soreness from the surgery. I stayed in bed for the first 4 days, crying and being hungry. Pulled up a full liquid diet from the internet, it had a lot more items to choice from. By day 5, I have eaten a very mushed scrambled egg, a thick cream Soups and fat free puddings. I am and always have been a pickey eater. I haven't check with my doctor in regards to this change of diet, but it seems to be working. I am less hungry, which is making me feel better. I am only eating about 5 tablesoups of Soup at a time. I feel full and satisfied. I can't believe when I go to the doctors on Aug 6, I want to tell him this is not right for me...Take it OUT... I have lost a total of 26lbs, since my pre-op office viist. Still this is not encouraging. I am still thinking about all the foods that I miss and want to eat. My pre-op weight was 255. BMI 42. I could use some feed back.

Hang in there! I think alot of us may have those thoughts in the beginning like OMG what did I do? It's almost like you are greiving food :) It gets easier as the days go by at least for me so far. I"m only 11 days out from surgery and have had alot of mixed emotions but I guess thats to be expected from the huge change of lifestyle we are embarking on. Just try to look at the positives and how much healthier you will be. Stick with it, I bet you will be glad you did!

The problem is that you are still hungry. As you get fills you will not be hungry and will not miss the food. I was banded on 4/4 and have lost 50 pounds. I have had 2 fills and can eat anything....just less of it. Give the band a chance you'll get use to it. What were your expectations? It seems that you weren't prepared to have the band.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
