I am about 6 weeks post op and most things have been going well. I am not too restricted in the mornings but yet I do wake to like a lump in my throat. In the afternoons are a different story, after I eat lunch around noon, I feel full the remainder of the day (maybe restricted) I use the word full becasue that is how I feel but I only eat until I am satisfied.

So yesterday, I went to Knotts berry Farm and was ok except for the full feeling in my stomach. I only had a small cup of berry punch- NO food.< /p>

So this morning I woke hungy and I usually do not eat until 9ish. So I warmed up some black Beans and rotisserie chicken and after about 5 bites, I knew this was not going to agree with me

Before I could even get up from the table, it was coming back up. Not a good feeling. I still feel like I have a lump in my throat. It has been about an hour or so and I have not had anything else, not sure when I can drink something. I think I stay on liquids the remainder of the day.

Thanks for reading, if you have any advice go for it.

I usually have problems in the early in AM with restriction. You should feel better in the afternoon. Hot Drinks usually help because they decrease inflammation from the irritation caused by the food being stuck. I have been banded for 3 years and cannot handle chicken. I recently found that it is easier for me to eat dark meat than white ( I think because it is too dry). Hope that you feel better and good luck.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
