Long2BFree 12 Posted July 26, 2008 (edited) I'm 9 days post-op and still on Clear Liquids and Protein Shakes. I know after surgery I was told to sip, sip, sip but am now able to drink without any pain. My question is, can I stretch the pouch if I drink a cup of liquid within 5 minutes or should I still be sipping? Edited July 26, 2008 by Long2BFree
Long2BFree 12 Posted July 28, 2008 Does anyone know the answer to this? I just drank 16 ounces within a 15 minute time frame and am in pain.
annecolorgreen 0 Posted July 28, 2008 Hi-- I haven't had the surgery but, from what I've read, that would be too much to have at one time. Hope someone else can help you!! ~~anne
nomadem 1 Posted July 28, 2008 Ive only now seen this after re-reviewing my post-op instructions but it says-to drink 2 ounces every 15 mins and do not exceed 8 oz per hour
jpell1275 0 Posted July 28, 2008 heres an idea....... if it hurts to drink that fast, dont do it ........ im 7 days post op and i was told to drink 48 - 64 oz. of liquid a day if i can drink more go ahead and do it . I dont have much restriction on liquids but i would not chug if i was you. If you make yourself vomit this early you can cause slipage . Sip all day .. i still finish about 7-8 16oz. bottles a day w/ no issue as well as my 3 shakes. Hope that helped
Long2BFree 12 Posted July 29, 2008 Thanks for the replies. I appreciate everyone taking the time to give me their input. I drank 8.5 oz 10 minutes after eating a popscicle and have been hurting for the past 75 minutes. It just now dawned on me (as I'm typing this) that everytime this has happened I drank some new Protein shakes I got this weekend. They have a straw which we aren't supposed to use. Well, I'm glad the light just went on...
