lapbandmexico 0 Posted July 26, 2008 What if we have surgery in Mexico, return to the U.S., and need a prescription like something for esophageal spasms? How would we get the medicine?
IM_LORI 0 Posted July 26, 2008 I've ran into that issue. I had my surgery down in TJ, 90 minutes from me. Sometimes I'll make a run down there and pick whatever up and bring it back. But sometimes it's a hassle. I have a great Primary care physician (Mexican) who works well with me and supports my efforts with my band. I'll let him know whatever medicine it is that my Doctor in Mexico wants me on, and he'll call in the prescription. I realize I"m quite fortunate though in how well it works out for me. Good Luck
kimaly 57 Posted July 26, 2008 I had surgery in Mexico 5 days ago, my Dr. gave me a US office # just in case. Maybe you could ask your Dr.
snowbird 2 Posted July 26, 2008 I would think your PCP would be able to prescribe what you need. That is a good reason to have a PCP who is on board with your banding and makes an effort to educate him/herself about it. My Mexican surgeon is accessible by email and cell phone, so he could let me know what his opinion is, and I could convey that to my PCP.
