Have Surgery Date! - LBL

Recommended Posts

Hi Ladies,

Just checking in on you! I've been following this thread closely but am limiting my time on the computer because my Dr. doesn't want me sitting directly on the backside to much, so I'll keep this short (for me that is :)).

Karen, for me at a little over one week post-op stairs are doable -- slightly challenging, but not too bad. However I agree with KD that 4 flights of stairs might be a bit much. That said, I think each person is going to be a little different as far as what the can or cannot tolerate after surgery. For me it has always been the case that lots of post-op. activity makes me stronger and feel better, so the more I do the better I feel.

For both of my surgeries I was allowed to shower at three days post-op, but I have noticed that almost no two Dr.'s seem to give the same post-op instructions. They all seem to have their own particular ways that they want things done.

KD I'm so glad to hear that you had a good day at work and that things are getting better. Enjoy those naps too! I noticed that I never sleep better than when I'm recovering from surgery!

Have a great day ladies!!!:smile::cool2:

Hi Frangi - I am not getting anything to fill my tush in so I wonder if I am going to be too flat! It already feels bony with all the skin there - isn't it weird to feel uncomfortable on a hard seat/in bathtub now without the weight?

I am a bit nervous about the stairs!

thanks for advice.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
