Guest pdbeth Posted May 26, 2005 I already know that my insurance has an exclusion for all WLS, however my husband's doesn't. If my husband adds me to his policy and that becomes my secondary insurance, do you think they would pay at their regular rate of 80%? Would I have to be denied by my insurance first? porclndoll 0 Posted May 27, 2005 Yes you would need a denial from your primary insurance first. If your primary pays nothing, then the secondary should still adhear to their policy rules...80/20 after deductable if you have one.....Just to cover your butt you should find out from the secondary if they need to do a precertification/predetermination for this surgery too.......just to be safe. Just call the customer service number at the secondary and tell em, Im having surgery, my insurance isn't going to cover it. I know you will require a denial from my primary, but what are your requirements for surgery? I hope this has been helpful! Good luck to you!
Alexandra 55 Posted May 27, 2005 Proclndoll is right. The fact that you are using your secondary insurance doesn't mean they'll cover you at any lowel level than they would your husband. It just means that you go to them second. Get your denial first from your carrier and you'll be on your way. Good luck!!
burnsun 27 Posted May 28, 2005 What they described is the way it works for my children and their two insurances. Some of the tests and such may be covered by your primary though- that is where is gets annoying- but good paperwork skill will help!
