Hi,

I have had only 2 fills so far. The rule at my Dr.s office is only liquids for the rest of the day after the fill. anything goes before.

But my personal experience was this ~

1st fill, I did not eat anything before (did not have time that morning), ended up being so hungry the rest of the day, but made it through.

2nd fill, made a point to eat a sandwich about 3 hours before, just so I would not be so hungry after. My doc fill me, had me drink some Water and I (excuse me) threw it up and had what I guess is a PB. So he unfilled me, and filled me again with less. Its been 3 days since that and I don't think the fill was enough. I really think that 1st fill would have been o.k. if I had NOT eaten solid food before.

My next fill, I am going there on an empty stomach!!

My docs rule is no food 2 hours before. But as stated, all doctors are different. I was not on liquids after. Went out to dinner with my family, but I did take it easy. Good luck!!

My doc tells me to not eat or drink anything two hours prior to a fill. Afterward I'm on liquids progressing to mushies for 24 hours. After that whatever my body will allow.

My doctor seems to be one of the less conservative among those who post here. I have no restriction on eating before a fill, or after. However, I always choose to go for my fills on an empty stomach (easy for me, I usually make an 8:00 a.m. appt. for my fills). Find out what your doctor requires and follow that path. Good luck with your fill!

I ate a ton at 1:00 and then had my first fill at 3:30 (I had forgot about the appt) I was still kinda full when I went to the appt and my fill went just fine. But mine was an accident.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
