Recommended Posts

I was banded on June 11,2008

My highest weight right before surgery was 346. This morning when I stepped on the scale it said 319.4.

Its been just over 6 weeks. Should I be losing more? I have been really beating myself up when i eat feeling like is this right is this wrong is it too much is it too little.

Yes my dears I am my own worst critic. food is not my enemy here its ME! ahaha!!

What do you think? I mean am I average? I just don't know!!

Am I in band hell right now?? ahaha i think I might be!

Barbie, you are doing great. You are down around 27lbs. in six weeks. You should be very proud of yourself and keep up the good work. Don't beat yourself up. Good luck on your continued success :)

That is great! My surgeon and his team say that the first six weeks are just about healing, not weight loss, so any weight that you lose in this time is wonderful! I think I know how you feel tho. I am being banded next wednesday and six weeks post op I will probably feel like I should have lost 50 lol! take care and don't beat yourself up! :)

I echo what everyone else has said. You are healing so don't focus on losing (though I know it's hard not to). You are doing great but remember that 1 to 2 pounds per week is average as far a loss.

I think that is great! I am not doing that good. My banding was on 7/1/08. will be 4 weeks on Tuesday. I have lost 17 lbs. and that includes 5 pre op.

I have been on 800 to 900 calories a day, and still stuck on 217. I was told not to expect to loose but about 1-2 lbs a week. But the first 15 came off quick, now nothing.

I am trying to stay positive, but it is hard. I have been walking a mile about 3 or 4 times a week, I am going to pick it up to at least 5 or 6 times.

Hang in there and I will be right with you.

That's fantastic! 1-2 pounds a week on average are the magic numbers. Anything meeting or exceeding that is fantastic!

It's taken me 6 months to lose 30 pounds so don't stress. Everyone is different. You have to heal. Anything before a fill is a bonus. Your doing great, it takes a while to get used to this thing.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
