Before surgery, I was completely anti-Starbucks! I called it liquid crack. Now I love them! They have a coffee made just for us!!!! I order a Decaf, Nonfat, sugar-free Vanilla Latte with Protein!! Almost every day! You can also call it a decaf skinny latte with Protein, but I like to make sure they get everything right.

I can't function without my daily Skinny Vanilla Latte w/protein. Great way to get some Calcium in too. If I can't make it to Starbucks I make mine at home. I bought a big bottle of the sugar-free Syrup from Starbucks and add my own Protein Powder. I have not been able to find out how much Protein is in the Starbuck's protein. I checked their web site nutrition list and it's not listed. One of the guys at the local Starbucks said he will find the answer for me. Just curious if you happen to know?

Not quite sure about the amount of Protein, but I think they use soy if I am not mistaken. Anyway, I have also been making my own at home, with a bit of variation. I bought Torani brand sugar free White chocolate Sauce that is made for caffe mochas. I get it at World Market. They have tons of sugar free syrups, and this was an extra added bonus. The syrups and this sauce are only about $5 each. A couple of squirts in with the cold milk, then into the microwave for a minute, mix it up, and add the coffee. I don't always add Protein at home when I make it. I have a pretty good idea of how much protein I get in a day when all my meals are at home. It's when I'm out and about that I lose track, and that's when that Starbucks Skinny etc. comes in handy! If your local barista tells you the protein content, I'd love to know it.

Thanks.

CM, I went into Starbucks this morning and he told me 5 grams of Protein. I'll have to check out the chocolate sauce, Cafe Mochas are good too. I sometimes mix sugar free cocoa in with my coffee. The Starbuck's syrups are reasonably priced, at least compared to what they charge for a cup of coffee. I think it was only $7.00 for a 34 ounce bottle. They don't have the syrups out on display for sale, you have to ask the barista for it.

I had my surgery on 8/14/08 and have drank coffee ever since with splenda and skim milk. Since I could not drink Coke anymore, there is no way I could survive without my coffee to keep the caffeine headaches under control!!

I asked my nutritionist about the lattes, and she looked it all up. The Protein (which is whey, I was wrong) has about 6g protein, and the milk has 9g! So, we are getting a lot of protein from one warm, delicious indulgence. She said it is a decent choice if you are out and need something quick, but obviously not as a major source of nutrition.

 Can anyone tell me if we can drank BLACK coffee, someone told me that I couldnot drank coffee with lapband

 I drink about a pot of coffee, real coffee, every day. I drink it with fat free half n half and splenda. Even on my clear liquid stage I drank a tiny amount of coffee daily. I work normal hours, but I have to get up at 4:30 in the morning and am up until 10 or so at night. I also don't sleep well due to back problems and menopause stuff, so I can't survive without it.

The reason they tell you don't drink it is that for some, coffee is hard on the tummy. Also, caffeine isn't great for any of us really.

It's like any band food... try it gently and slowly to see if you can stomach it.

Best!

Barbara:biggrin:

I started drinking coffee after the band. I have one grande non fat latte every morning. It keeps me happy for 2-3 hours.

"Like now I eat only dark chicken meat because breasts are too dry. "

I think the trick to getting moist chicken brest just right is cooking at lower tempertures and for shorter times. Don't leave the kitchen and keep checking it. I'd cover it also. If you flatten the chicken or butterfly it it will be uniform in thinkmess. That helps to get it just right. I do not like dry and tough chicken brest! :-(

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
