Lisa,

I'll be there and would be happy to be your buddy. I"m new to all this, and just learning about my options.

My name is Nora, and I'll be wearing a white t, black floral skirt, and black and white sandals.

See you tonight - save me a seat.

Ok Nora, I will look for that skirt! If you spot me first, I'm a blonde college student with light jean capris and a colorful tank top!

Hope we can find each other somewhere. I've been researching this since February and a frequent this site so I am actually very knowledgable on the whole thing, especially the insurance part since i've gone through three different types!

I did stay overnight at Rose, my surgery was late in the afternoon. I had great caregivers. You are going to do just great.

Seems just a short time ago that I went to Dr. Snyder's seminar. Now I am banded and I am so happy that I made the decision to have him do my surgery. My experience with him has been all good. And I really like Amanda, the person who does the fills.

I think most of Dr. Snyder's staff are lapbanders. Successful lapbanders at that.

I don't have any of the complications I read about on this board. I am not hungry. Not in any pain. I know what to do, what to eat, am losing weight, and feel great. The other thing I like is the ongoing support and classes.

Lisa,

I'm so glad we found each other at the seminar! I am very excited, and have an appointment with Dr. Kirshenbaum for a consult on 8/8. Please keep in touch and let me know what's going on with you!

Thanks everybody for the reassurance about good experiences with Dr. K.

How is it working for everybody in social situations? Do other people comment on what or how much you are eating?

Also, do you feel the port much, or is it visible under the skin once you reach your goal weight?

Thanks all.

Nora, I had a great time, and I scheduled my consult today, but they are very backed up as you can see by my signature. Good luck and keep in touch!

No one really seems to notice how little I eat in social situations because I eat so slow, it takes me just as long to finish.

My port does not show at all. Just the scar is visible.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
